Definitely 100% pro gay marriage
How do you feel about gay marriage?
02/09/2012
I'm all for it. If two people of the opposite sex can get married and make each other miserable for the rest of their lives, than two people of the same sex should be able to do that as well.

Just to note, straight people don't NEED parades or festivals or anything like that. Walking down a busy street on a nice day is practically a straight pride parade; there are straight people everywhere being heterosexual and not getting shit for it. As a straight person, I don't have to worry about being beaten or killed because I have a boyfriend. We don't need parades.

Look at it this way....straight people...don't have festivals, praise-a-thons, or parades.
Gay/Lesbian/Trans folk get those things...now they want to join into an institution along with straights which is called the institution of marriage.
At best the marriage institution has been proven a flawed and potentially nasty thing, with lots of fine print which can ruin relations between people and the lives of the people involved.
Let's try an example....
Guy A meets guy B and they hit off a relationship that starts great for a few years. Have me and enjoyed all kinds of welcome from each other's family and friends.
Guy A is a career fellow with a great car, very active and respected in local community, and has a great house..... At some point, the pact of marriage has been done by these two. Awesome, things go good for a few more years, but something happens...say guy B gets a bit drunk, comes home all pissy and starts a fight with guy A. Next day or so Guy B as some foggy memory of how Guy A called him a sissy, drunk, douche-bag and goes off to see comfort in the arms of another gay man who is a friend, but somehow they end up sleeping together....Sexual infidelity!!! Oh man, how can guy B get out of this one....well, he gets drunk almost every night, comes home and picks fight with Guy A almost every evening, when suddenly...guy A hits guy B and the next thing you know, guy B has a high paid attorney which was paid for on a retainer that drained guy A's bank account. Since guy B filed the divorce and had grounds on violence, he avoided the costly court costs...but since they were still married, was able to lease out a high end apartment, using credit cards and/or bank account of Guy A.
To make a long story short....Guy A is ruined now, had his love of his life leave him suddenly while unaware of the ploy laid out by Guy B and his lover to manipulate this divorce; in doing so they also succeeded in ruining Guy A's reputation and he gets fired due to the local media coverage and ripple effect of this sob story, high profile divorce case that was laid out by Guy B's attorney, that Guy A paid for.
Happens sometimes with us straight people...and now the gay/lezz/trans community want to join in this potential hurt locker.....why?
Listen...you are together, society is finally accepting same-gender relationships as it has not done before.....take a breath, be patient, and wait for this nasty thing which is our current institution of marriage to improve a bit....then join in the marriage institution.
//////if the marriage institution was not so ass backwards as it is now, I would be married too....got a great woman, have a great family with her, can't imagine anyone else to grow old with and raise kids with....but I won't get married into something that holds so much fine print, and misleading that it could possible ruin either or both of us. less

Just my two cents, that statement seemed really weird to me.
And your whole post confuses me a little..
I get that marriage is a totally DERP system sometimes, but if straight people can do it and everyone else can't, that's discrimination and unequal. That's not cool- everyone deserves the same rights as everyone else in America, that's the point! Just because the system can suck doesn't mean that an entire group of people should be forcibly left out of it.

I think let the people vote on it.
02/25/2012
I have "guncles"and they are absolutely amazing. They should be treated like any other married couple!

I'm for it, and I think (in the US at least) there's been a turnaround in public opinion that could gain it mainstream acceptance during my lifetime. I look forward to that.
I think what opponents don't understand is that committed gay partnerships (and gay soldiers, and gay couples raising kids) are things that ALREADY EXIST in our society, and we gain nothing by saying "oh, legally that shouldn't count."

I'm definitely all for it. I consider it a human rights issue.

How do y'all feel about gay marriage?
We're a pretty open, liberal, sex positive community. Does that translate to our feelings about gay marriage?
I'm going to keep the poll anonymous so people feel able to answer with no pressure to answer a particular way. less

As someone who is "sexless" as far as sexuality goes. But I DO tend to go more for guys (but rarely), I do not agree with marriage at all. I have seen one fall apart in my face (parents divorce)

In the same respects why should my gay friends not be able to get married while I have these opinions?
THEY are the ONLY reason I am supportive of gay marriage, well and those who want to in general. Hey if you can make it work, and remain happy until death does you part, MORE POWER TO YOU ALL!
Another thing the opposers do not understand is the money that it can rake in for the state
02/29/2012
Religious reasons should not be an issue with legalizing gay marrige; separation of church an state is there for a reason, and the instant the USA decided to make marriage a legally recognized thing they took away their ability to deny this legal status to any couple for religious reasons.
03/01/2012
I don't see why gay marriage has to do with straight people, to be honest. If it's against your religion, I get it. Don't get married to someone of the same sex. Just because it's against YOUR religion doesn't mean its against THEIR religion.
If your best friend came out to you today, would you still think it's fair that they can't marry their partner? What about your sister? Or your son?

I feel like it's something particular pastors, priests and ministers need to figure out for themselves. I do believe it should be legally recognized by the government, however. There is absolutely no reason that it shouldn't be. Secularized and all as we claim to be.

I'm all for it. I can't wait until my moms can get married.

It's perfectly natural, in my eyes. I mean, you see homosexual relations for life in other species (such as Macaca fuscata, the Japanese snow monkey). It's just natural to crave for some individuals even if some don't and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm for it. Having different tastes in love meaning less rights doesn't make sense to me.
04/22/2012
As a lesbian, for it and proud
05/04/2012
Gay marriage wouldn't affect my marriage whatsoever. If Britney Spears' and Kim Kardashian's marriage don't, then there's no way a couple of gay dudes getting married would, either. It's not like a gay guy is going to come to my house and start shagging my (future) wife. Now, if a lesbian were to do that, I might not mind ...
06/05/2012
I'm for it.
06/05/2012
I LOVE my gay friends and they should get the same rights as everyone else. Just remember, in the not so distant past black people and women weren't allowed to vote....and lots of other things, in the not so distant future we will be wondering wtf our problems were for not letting gay people marry.

Everyone gets one go around in this world. Live life how you want to live it and do what makes you happy! No one should judge you for your choices of love, marriage, or happiness. Religion, politics, and all that bullshit shouldn't dictate a person's chance at love and a happy life.
07/21/2012
I don't believe in making private institutions recognize it. I know people who think the Catholic Church should allow it and I think that's ridiculous. they have every right to be against it.I do think the federal government should be forced to acknowledge however. Domestic partnership is considered different than marriage by the gov and I think we realized a while ago that separate but equal doesn't work.
