How do you feel about gay marriage?

Contributor: Miss Madeline Miss Madeline
I am very very very pro-gay marriage. I really like the separation of church-married and state-married. I think all couples (gay or straight) that want to be state-married should be allowed to and those who wish to get married in a church that will perform the ceremony can if they want.

I feel it should be entirely different things.

I don't really get the point of marriage (except from a financial perspective I guess) but if people want to get married they definitely should be allowed to.

as a federal judge recently said, "PRIVATE MORAL PREJUDICE IS NOT GROUNDS FOR LEGISLATION." and i agree whole-heartedly. law have absolutely no right o be made based on religious beliefs. it impedes on those with conflicting religious beliefs!

They should legalize it. It would help the economy. Wedding registries, catering, dresses/tuxedos, and all other wedding related expenses, just think of all the money that could be spent!

And when it doesn't work out, there's divorce lawyers...

I think all humans should have equal rights no matter what their sexual orientation is. So, yes I think gays should have the right to be married to one another.

Trick question... the government should have no say over marriage if this is truly a secular country... They should afford citizens civil unions whether it is a "marriage" is a religious matter..

I'm for it. 1. They aren't hurting anyone. 2. Other people need to mind their own business. 3. It'd probably help boost the economy a bit

The consitution (for us Americans) wants pure liberty as long as you dont harm others. That how things are supposed to be but of course arnt. If 2 people love eachother there should be nothing stopping them for being united, that is individual freedom. The word "marriage" is a religious term, however I know gay christians and who says that they should not be able to marry in a church if that is their belief. Thats what I think, take it or leave it.

I am extremely for it. I honestly don't understand why anyone would be against gay marriage. It doesn't affect anyone but the people getting married and it would benefit the economy, since there would be more people paying for a wedding, thus throwing more money into circulation.

I am for equal rights in this field. However, I personally would favor a concession to the religious and non-religious alike. I would like to see the word "marriage" removed from government use all together and "civil unions" be the legal term applied to all unions. Then if you want a marriage and the religious connotation that surrounds it your church can do that.

As far as I am concerned, the religious get to control what marriage is and the non-religious don't have to have a institution with religious connotations to get legal privileges. Plus the gay and lesbians can marry.

Current and past civil union laws are odd. As I understand it the prior Vermont civil union law applied only to same sex couple, while the Oregon one applies to all persons. However, the Oregon civil union does not give a straight couple the same benefits with the federal government.

I'm not gay but I am for it.
I believe people should be allowed to marry and be with whoever the hell makes them happy. How can you(people in general, not you specifically) think it's ok to tell other who they can and can't marry? It baffles me that gays are not allowed to get married, it's marriage. It's just insane to me.
I usually don't bother to argue about it with people because I honestly don't care about what others think, everyone has their own opinion and obviously everyone thinks their own opinion is the right one, so if someone is against it then fine, that sucks for you though because you are going to be filled with that hate and prejudice but guess what, gays will always be around.

I say that if (you are a homophobe) they are not hitting on you, or bothering you then leave it alone. Plain and simple.
