Do you turn the water on before or after you get in the shower?

I've always turned the water on while I was standing in the shower (let the faucet warm up, turn the shower head on) but I recently discovered that my boyfriend does the opposite. It never occurred to me that you could do it the other way, but it makes a lot more sense! If you turn the water on before you get in, the water gets warm, the shower itself gets warm, and it doesn't matter if someone left the shower on instead of turning it to the faucet.

What about you? Do you turn the water on then step into the shower or step into the shower then turn the water on?

Who doesnt like sprinkles!? Just kidding. My bathroom is the farthest away from the hot water heater so I turn the water on and let it warm up before I get in. However I dont turn the shower on untill after I get in.

Man was I tempted to pick the sprinkle option!

I turn on the water and then get in the shower. I kinda thought everyone did that. Interesting that isn't the case.

I turn the water on while I'm standing in the shower and let it run on my feet to decide if I like the temperature. Then again, I'm the only person I know who likes lukewarm showers on a regular basis...

I know it's more eco-friendly to wait until you get in, but depending on where and the time of year that can mean an unpleasant blast of cold water, or worse, a burn, so I turn it on before I get in.

i always turn it on first let it warm up and adjust the temp to desired then turn the shower head on and step in. this reduces the chances of either getting burned, frozen or having to sidestep the shower while adjusting the temp and when you try to do that it takes longer to get it right.

I turn it on after I get in because there's only one bathroom in my house so you have to leave the door unlocked for other people. So the less time spent naked outside the shower, the better. XD And that habit carries over to other showers.

I turn it on right before I get in. I designed my plumbing system to give me almost instant hot water out of any faucet in the house. So it only takes about 5 seconds to get steaming hot water.
