I turn it on beforehand. No matter how warm the faucet water is running, the shower head takes a second or two to reach the same temperature, and I hate getting a cold water splash, no matter how brief.
Do you turn the water on before or after you get in the shower?

I turn the water on before getting into the shower. I hate cold water, so I wait for the water to get hot.

love the "jello & sprinkles"
I don't like the burst of COLD water!

I have to wait until it is nice and steaming hot before I get in. No accidental cold shots.

It never occurred to me that you could do it the other way, but it makes a lot more sense! If you turn the water on before you get in, the water gets warm, the shower itself gets warm, and it doesn't matter if someone left the shower on instead of turning it to the faucet.
What about you? Do you turn the water on then step into the shower or step into the shower then turn the water on? less

Water on, temp check, then I get in.

I turn the water on before I get in. I actually don't like warm or hot showers-- I prefer they be cold, so I need the shower to cool down for me to get into it. Our tap water, when first turned on, usually comes out lukewarm to hot first, so I have to get it to filter through before I get cold water.
As for running the faucet, then turning to the shower head. Yeah.. someone came to fix the faucet about six years ago. It was pulling away from the wall; we just needed it put back in. Afterwards, he told my mom that he had, "fixed the connection issue between the shower head and the faucet." Nothing had been broken. Now, you can't ever change it to the faucet. It's permanently stuck in shower head mode.

Gotta make sure it's nice and hot before I get in!! My bathroom practically turns into a sauna when I shower.

When I was younger I turned it on while in the tub. Now I always turn it on before. I'm not sure why it changed. It may be the way my bathroom is designed.

Always before. I hate getting that blast of cold water first thing.

We have a gas tankless water heater, so it always has to run for a little bit or it will be freezing.
On the other hand, with the tankless we never have to adjust the hot and cold. It just comes straight out at the temperature set on the heater

I know of people who get in first in order to save water or something, but I find it better to turn it on and let it warm up while I get undressed and brush my hair out.

Water is turned on before I get in because it takes a while for it to heat up.
My dog used to step in and I'd stand just outside the shower and quickly turn the water on and off so he could bite at it and play until it got warmer. He's been gone a little over a year now and I sure do miss him!
