I'm taking my kids out trick or treating. Sadly, no costume for me.

I'm working at my local Ren Faire this weekend, so I'll already be in a costume (bellydance gear). So the only parties I'll be going to will be something probably small out there.

Aww why not? My mom used to dress up as a witch when she took us out. My dad was always a pirate. His mask was creepy as hell.

LOL I don't think my sexy black dress I have will be good enough or warm enough to wear all night.

I don't know... I used to hate when I'd get this really cool costume and then my parents would make me put a jacket over it. I'd brave it

Great discussion so far, everyone! (I just finished page 4...) If there's a possibility, I'd love to hear Sir (and everyone) talk about the distinction between roleplay and having things just be pretty things to wear in an existing relationship dynamic. I think the relationship dynamic makes more intuiotive sense to me, but i'd like to hear all sides...

It's a blast, both as a participant (worker) and a patron. If you find one in your state, it's definitely worth a day trip!

There are a couple out here, and we always say we're gonna go, and then we forget the dates. This year we're going if I have to tattoo the dates on our foreheads.

See I agree with this. I see costumes usually for role play unless it's a scene like Sir was talking about. Usually most scenes that have some sort of costume that isn't fetish wear for them is interrogation scenes. Other than that is puppy, pony, and kitty play that might involve some sort of costume being involved.

I think roleplay is usually reserved for occasions that are more out of the ordinary, putting yourself into a role that is not normally yours. In a master/slave relationship dynamic, that role is assumed all if not most of the time. At least, that's how I see the difference.
