I really like helping causes that have anyhting to do with women and mens helath. Especially the men because they get overlooked.
Animals are always a popular option in getting people to contribute. Who can't resist those sad little eyes.
I really like the "etsy" idea of selling products. *Stepping down off my soapbox* less

They are all great ideas, it's just picking one and getting it done that seems to be our issue. :/ I think we need to stick all the ideas in a hat and pick one or something lol. Just to get us going on a project.

I love all the ideas too. I just don't know how to implement them yet.

You know... beyond etsy... one idea for an annual fundraiser could be ebay. We all have junk we could sell on ebay to raise money.

That could work too. A big online garage sale of sorts.

I like the idea of setting up three groups to work toward action plans for the three areas of action we are hoping to "give back" - what was it, volunteering time, donating items and fund-raising money?
I have things to contribute on all fronts, for sure, but would definitely be willing to work on a committee in one specific area, if this is our goal (since the project I want to head is in the "fund-raising" category, I would probably choose that one). I'm not really capable of heading such a committee but am definitely willing to join forces with a few others who are interested to see where things lead.

My apologies for the lack of an official ending. We had a great meeting here, and got some great ideas. If anybody else wants to add anything else, please feel free to do so. Thanks again everybody, and we'll see you at the next one!

I didn't really want to talk about this until after the warehouse moved, but that is happening this week actually.

I like this idea! It gives lots of different causes a chance and the broadness of our community's interests could be well represented.

I think you should have a small committee for each fundraiser you do - that way it changes with each outreach effort, and more people can cycle through the EdenGivesBack club management, depending on the causes they feel strongly about.
As for heading this up? I already talked to Sam. I'm definitely in on this. I'm excited to see who I could work with.

That's a great point. I mentioned having something like the holidays for either the LGBTQ Youth facilities and/or women's shelters. HOWEVER... what a lot of those types of facilities need are VOLUNTEERS! People to take interest and help out. It might be a little easier to get involved with an LGBTQ Youth facility and mentor those kids than a women's shelter because of protecting the women who have escaped abusive relationships though.

Along with that, most of us have old cell phones sitting around, and they can actually use those for abuse victims since old cells, no matter their phone service, can still dial 911.

I agree with this because more people would be willing to be in club management if it were for a shorter, more manageable time period.

I totally agree about the importance of inspiration! When someone shares a simple act, such as donating canned foods to a local organization, it reminds us how easy it can be to help and motivates us to make the effort.

Folks with childrens clothing can donate clothes their kids no longer fit into, or when you go through and clean out your closet, maybe take a before and after picture, and go bring that bag of clothing to a local shelter? I know where I live there are a lot of donation boxes, similar to large mail boxes, where you can just drop off bags of clothing and shoes. less
