I'm just curious what everyone does with the toys they find they don't like or enjoy as much as they thought they would.
What do you do with the toys you don't like?

It depends. If it's a toy that just didn't thrill us but was good overall and can think of someone who would enjoy it, we pass it along. That's as long as it's also boilable/bleachable. If not, it gets tossed in a drawer or somewhere and then thrown away during one of our cleaning rampages. If it's totally crappy, we just send it straight to the trash.

Recycling and/or giving to a friend or relative. NEVER throw away, no matter what. If I do not like it so much and no one wants it, I just keep it.
06/23/2010
We would love to give them away since they were very expensive, but who wants used toys? eewwww
06/23/2010
I wish I wasn't such a pack rat and was more willing to throw things away. :/

There are sex toy recycling programs available. If you send in your broken or old toys, they send you a discount coupon you can use for many online sex toy retailers. The discounts may just be for "green" toys. I haven't done it before, but I'm looking into it to get rid of a shitty vibrator.

This topic comes up every 5 months or so. Even the link ToriRebel put up has already been linked on the forums.
The topics are under "Green Sex toys" and "Materials". There are some suggestions there, but Eden doesn't have a particular program or company to suggest.
Unfortunately for the Earth, some duds have made it to the trash. The rest of them have lived a quiet life in a basket or drawer.

Seriously but what do you do with an expensive toy that just doesn't do the trick? Some other websites have a no questions asked return policy for up to 90 days. Wish I would have bought my girl the toy there

My expensive toys go to my good friends......why not give it to a good friend afterall some of these toys cost a pretty penny depending on the type

All of our unloved toys go in a shoe box under the bed.
I can't even imagine offering a used toy to someone - LOL - or worse, I can't imagine taking one from someone to use. Just seems gross to me.

I had no idea about the recycling option...I do actually have one toy that gave out on me and is just hanging out in the drawer. Mine always get stored away, which actually gets fun when I look through them and find them again. I five them another chance to see if my opinion of them is still the same.
06/23/2010
If I have toys that I just never touch, usually about after 6 months I retire it to a box full of junk I don't use and store it in the bottom of my closest.

Anyways...I use condoms with a lot of toys simply so that I can give them away if I don't like them. I have done so on a few occasions. Some I throw away after a while, or I alter them to be something I like.

Well depends on the toy. For the Furry community, most toys are made of pure silicone which can be sterilized. It's a common practice for one to be sterilized and resold at a lower price, it's done often at the sites I go to and I have done that a few times, but I go to the extra mile and boil, clean with bleach, alcohol, then wash with antibacterial soap a few times just to make sure.
But each company states they are not responsible for misuse or any STDs that result, which is fine. No one says you have to buy used toys.
Other than that I tend to give them to friends or just toss them if they can't be cleaned.

ultimately, the garbage. No one wants a used toy unless you have some sort of fetish about that.
06/24/2010
I don't throw them out unless they don't work, otherwise I give them to a friend.
06/24/2010
I wish I could say that I get rid of everything that doesn't work. But I have a vibe or two that don't actually vibrate, however one has an interesting design, so it does still work for thrusting. Mostly things just end up in the bottom of drawers or whatever. As the dresser we use to hold things gets full we go through and move the things that don't get used very often into a space in the closet to make room for things that get used more.

We got something very similar to this one
link
And it was horrible. Painful actually for her. This one that I linked has a softer design, but the older model made no sense. So what do we do after spending like $70 on this machine?

Yeah, imo, it's more kind of like, "Hey, I only used this tampon once and didn't even bleed on it. You can have it, if you want." Um, no. Not for me, either as the Giver or the Receiver.

The Sex Toy Graveyard is at the bottom of a drawer. We may pull an old one out every once in a while and see if we can make good use of it, sometimes we get lucky and like something we didn't earlier, but usually it goes right back to the bottom of the drawer.
I hope I don't die suddenly and my kids have to go through my stuff.

Toys I dislike go directly to the bottom of the toy box, never to be seen again. Kind of reminds me of the island of misfit toys, from Rudolph. Once in a VERY great while I'll pull one out and give it a test drive to see if I was wrong when I first decided I didn't like it; more often than not though, I wasn't and they are sent back with the other misfits.

Toys that don't work for me usually end up in the bottom of my drawer or storage container. I have disposed of all my jelly type toys (they kinda denigrated anyway). Some that can be sterilized, I have given to friends.
Just recently I read a review of a toy I previously reviewed and was not overwhelmed with at the time. I dug it out and so loved it this time....

I keep mine. Even though it's broke. I have to keep it anyway sense it was my first one. I'm weird like that, I guess. Lol.

I made a post about recycling, Which is overposted, but that is possible too.

Why would I buy it if I wouldn't cherish it? Every toy is special, every toy has a purpose, and every toy is flippin expensive! I would at least give it to a friend, but not trash it!
