Nope but I haven't had any I thought needed modification.

Have you ever had to modify a toy that you bought?

I peeled and cut off all the useless TPR from the Butterfly Kiss, which consisted of it's uselessly small shaft, and poorly placed butterfly clit stimulator. Cut through all of that, and I got to the guts of the toy, which is a decent little bullet. I could actually feel the vibrations once the TPR was off of it. It still rarely gets used, but it was my quieter clitoral vibe for a while, so it got some use.

Yes! I'm always tinkering with something or the other and I've made a few mods to sex toys. Before I had a dildo with a suction cup, I drilled into the base of a dildo and 'installed' a bolt anchor so I could bolt it to my dresser drawer (I removed the knob from the drawer). It worked better than any suction cup ever could!
I also cut up a pair of 'play' handcuffs and a pair of leg cuffs and turned them into a homemade bed restraint system. It works great and we still use it sometimes when we're feeling bdsm-ish.

If I absolutely knew what I didn't like and that removing it would make it better, I might. But cutting bits off is harsh!

never

I've used rubber bands to make stroker tighter.

No, I haven't done so yet.

I know that every now and then my husband and I buy a toy that doesn't quite work right. We had spending money just to waste it, so we often try to modify the toys to fit us. I bought a jackrabbit with a clitoral attachment that I didn't like, and my hubby was nice enough to buy an attachment cover for it. Other toys we will actually re-design as in breaking off parts that are painful, smoothing seams down, etc.
Have you ever had to redesign a toy? Explain what toy and why you modified it. Also, how did you modify it? less

I cut things off before

Never have, but have often wished certain toys (masturbators) were deeper/thicker.

I removed the rabbit portion of a crappy rabbit and got an acceptable regular vibrator.

nope yet I havent

I have not....yet

I bought a set of corded ben wa balls for the weight, and the cord was atrocious. Rough and cheap feeling, and the ends were knotted with a sharp, hard, scratchy glue! I couldn't cut that cord out fast enough. I thread them with dental floss now. I wanted them for the weight and ability to be threaded, so altering them like that didn't bother me.

So, I have a rabbit that I love everything about....except for the fact that the ears on the clitoral attachment are kind of pointy and hit me in EXACTLY the wrong place, so they're jabby and quite uncomfortable. I'm considering trimming them, or perhaps just cutting the ears off entirely, but I'm a little nervous about actuallly doing it. Anyone have any advice? Like, do I just use a nice, sharp pair of scissors, or....?

I haven't had to make any mods yet, but I do have a broken vibrator that I might be able to repair (power switch/speed knob fell apart). Other than that, the closest thing I've done is putting different things on my Auto Fuk using adapters, and I'd be willing to install external battery packs on basically anything that takes button cell batteries, because I hate button cells. They always die on me before I'm done, and I always have to make a special trip to replace them.

I haven't actually sat down and worked out a design, bit most of the button-cell bullets I've seen so far have a battery chamber design similar to a standard laser pointer; spring on one end and a contact place on the screw-off cap (which in this case also houses the push-buton and control board), so it's mostly a matter of just dremeling out a spot for the wiring to fit in, soldering the sires in, and hoping the whole thing doesn't blow. The downside is increased bulk, and it probably won't look pretty, but

Thankfully, I think the most common are 1.5 volts, same as AA and AAA batteries. If I ever get around to it and get one working, I'll follow-up with a photo.

Ahhh, too complicated for me . I'd better buy a rechargeable toy. Anyway, I'm curious about the result

Italian Kitten
I had to modify a toy after it broke from so much use. "The Bullet", as some of you know, is egg shaped with a cord attached to it's control pad. I had used it so much the cord had become disconnected on the inside some where in the middle. I had to cut it open, shorten the wire, and reconnect it. The wire connecting the two pieces was much shorter, but it made the "Bullet" vibrate MUCH HARDER!! On the down side it did get too hot too fast...??
