Is this aspect from the giving, receiving or both?

Isn't this an eye-opener? I feel like we're conditioned to think men can go all night and are always "up" for it.

No problem

I think the writing and information included in The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio reflects that a lot of time and research went into it's compilation.

I thought it was very eye-opening, it was certainly something I had never heard about before!

I'm afraid I'm as guilty as my husband of skipping the reading of directions... sigh... Perhaps if Violet Blue wrote all of the directions for the gadgets and appliances in my house, I might be more inclined to read them! I've always found her writing style to be very enjoyable and user friendly.

Not necessarily any one thing really, except that it simply covered more topics in depth than the average guide. Overall I think Michele picked as much from it as I did, because there were a lot of things in there that were helpful for women who may not feel comfortable receiving (which she's not). The acupressure techniques were very helpful in that respect.

I am curious to know if anybody who read either book or any of Violet Blue's guides learned anything new or anything that surprised them and if so...what was it?

I think you've hit on a key reason Violet's guides are so unique-- she approaches the subject from the perspective of both the giver and the recipient, offering advice to both on how to make the experience mind-blowing for both participants.

I knew the whereabouts of all the female parts, but learning the details of what goes on through each stage of arousal was new.

Having never needed to use a dental dam, Violet's mention of how such things could add to the stimulation led us to experiment with some Saran Wrap, which was fun. She's right... it adds to the sensations for both of us.

Also, as I mentioned before, the acupressure techniques were entirely new and something that really worked for us.

Thank you, we enjoy yours as well! The book is excellent, extremely well written, and we would suggest it to anyone of any experience level. As a matter of fact, I just lent our copy to my adult son, and it's the first one I've ever thought of sharing with him.

I don't normally read 'how to' books on sexual practices mainly because they are usually trite, or downright silly. I have also taken anatomy and phisiology but even I learned more than I thought I would from Violet Blue! The indepth coverage she does on male anatomy had me looking at Arch intently...caused a bit of a stir but once he figured out why i was looking at him like he was a specimen he was cool with it!
I know quite a lot about Felatio and Irummation (a new word I picked up from the book ) but I was really happy to try out some of the techniques. I had two happy, willing volunteers!

I am looking into some other 'how to' books now by authors I have heard good things about.

Ms. Blue has done it, or else I'm just a weird guy. Her chapters were broken up into many short sub-sections and written in a style that held my interest pretty well.

I thought it was interesting learning about what occurs physically when a man becomes aroused. It's one thing to see the physical reaction, but it's also interesting to learn about whats happening internally that causes it.

No kidding right? Even told us the difference between Fellatio and Irrumation! Fascinating stuff and the kind of 'sexy book' neither of my guys minds me reading.

I also liked the way that the stories weren't just hetero focused. Some of the stories were rather HAWT!

Haha! I also found myself looking at my boyfriend closely and questioning him about how things felt when I was reading the book. I think he was slightly creeped out at first, but when I started sharing some of the information I was learning and reading little parts of it out loud, he became eager to learn more and test out new techniques.

I noticed that this woman wrote both sides of the story. You know, I mean she wrote from the man and woman point of view. How did she discover the male side? Does anyone know if there is specific information in the book about interviews?
She sent questionnaires to people in the US and Canada and received about 150 back from both men and women. Along with her extensive knowledge of the act and the people who answered her questions this book has a neutral feel to it...it doesn't feel like it was written by a woman, if that makes sense.

That part was amazing to me since as we've gotten older Sigel and I have noticed that he has these waxing and waning periods during sex. He was really worried that there might be a problem with erectile dysfunction. He has seen a Dr. and is in extremely good health and this book helped to ease his mind...and mine.

Has anyone read any other How to books on oral sex? If so which ones and what did you like the best? What was the best tip you read from a how to manual?

I have to say, I agree with you in the quality of information in Violet Blue's books. I am reading her Smart Girl's Guide to Porn right now and while I have no qualm, hang-ups, fears or even questions about porn I still am finding this book to be an informative and entertaining read!

LOL you could make a mint if you were to write instruction booklets with well written erotica (oh who am I kidding...even badly written erotica) in it. At least we'd get some joy out of them when we are forced to correct HIS mistakes...LOL

I haven't read either of these books, but what I'm hearing about The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio intrigues me. I'm always interested in learning about the male perspective. I find that my husband and I both find it difficult to communicate how well different things do and don't work for us at different stages of arousal (I definitely don't want to try to rate things on a scale of 1-10). I think it would benefit us to read someone else's account and then use that as a starting point to compare and contrast our feelings against.

It's normal, and will level off eventually. It's nice to see that a book has finally addressed that issue though, because it's something that sends most of us running to the doc at some point.

So I haven't read The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio, but it's definitely going on my wish list! Those of you who have read it, does it give any special tips for uncircumcised guys? What about multi-orgasmic guys?
