I learned through the Internet... the only mention my mum made about toys was to tell me not to insert stuff into me replacing a penis because it could be full of bacteria and cause an infection. That was it. :/

I grew up in a very strict Catholic household. Sex toys, birth control, and dating were pretty much forbidden. I found out about sex toys on my own and the rest is history.

my parents never really went into depth about anything sex related. the main point they threw across was use protection. sex ed took care of everything except toys! i learned all about those from older friends! i do think toys should be talked about. it's a healthy alternative to sex! i'd rather have kids that play with toys than ones who experiment with other people!

No one ever mentioned sex toys to me. When I was a kid... there was no readily available internet, unless you were a University student who could hook up to a main frame.
I read some articles in Cosmo, that gave me some ideas. I saw stuff at Spencers, and thought, "EW." I have said before, I was very naive. I thought the only people who used sex toys were lesbians and old maids. Obviously, I changed my mind.

I knew nothing about them. I had been in a few shops before and knew what they looked like and what some felt like, that was it. One day, I went into one with my boyfriend and picked one out. It wasn't an informed decision as I later found out that it had pthlalates in it. So, I just stopped using it altogether.

Anyhow, no one told me anything about anything. When my husband I got married we bought lots of books on sexual fulfillment and in the last few years have added hundreds of toys, books, and videos to our repertoire; thus educating us far beyond our wildest dreams.
I seem to be the go to guru in our circle of friends and family for sex related questions and advice. I don't mind sharing and helping out when I can!

My mom gave me a college textbook on anatomy and sexuality. I avoided it out of embarrassment. I don't know why now. No one ever said anything about toys to me.
