I was a late bloomer physically--though six feet tall--, so when men and women started noticing me at 16 (I quit traditional school and did self-homeschooling, so I had lots of freedom), I went a little wild. I was in a mindfucked abusive relationship with a 24-year-old man, and after that was through, I went even crazier with the promiscuity. Of course, promiscuity and being a "slut" is a very loaded and subjective topic. For me, though, it was too much.
I don't regret most of my adventures, but I do wish I was more careful and discreet. I've learned a lot since then!
I don't think there is a "normal" but there is definitely an average. We won't ever know--people artificially inflate or downplay their numbers all the time. Men and women do both. I'm sure EF is one of the best places to see honest answers, though!
The only regret is I am in a partnered relationship that's currently monogamous. I haven't had enough experience with male dominants as I would've liked. My partner is a natural but doesn't know anything at all about BDSM or the scene. Hopefully with time and gentle coaxing, he'll understand and become more comfortable with the desires he already does have.
I've slept with both men and women, and I count any genital contact as part of my "number." So I'm definitely in the 2-6% by that count.

Just one, though that doesn't bother me. We've had plenty of time to perfect our game! I don't think there is a right number, it's whatever feels right to the individual. Though I have to say that having many partners without any sort of commitment runs some serious risks, and I don't just mean STDs. We have a Maury-like baby-daddy drama in my family where 4 men have had paternity tests and I work for a family law lawyer as well. Having a baby is stressful enough but going through all that crap to track down the dad for support would be awful.

It depends on how you define sex 16 women and 3 guys for me. I don't think anyone should be ashamed of how few or how many they have had. I think I would have liked to experience a few more but am in a happy LTR so that's not going to happen. Of course it is hard to beat just one when things work right

Well to me, I can't say what number is too many for anyone but myself. To be painfully honest, I have always been ashamed of my number. It's between 7-10 and while I don't regret anything at all. I don't regret period. I learn from my mistakes. It may take me making the same mistake more than once, but I will learn from it. I might want to regret it, but I don't. I take away from it and make myself do better next time.
Anyways, there is a such thing as too many, but I think that a whole, whole bunch of sex partners that are only no one night stand type of things are usually an indication of some sort of issue within yourself. That was my case too. I didn't WANT to sleep with everyone that I did, but I didn't think I deserved to say no. One scared me into it and I didn't know I was strong enough or good enough to demand they stop. It's my problem and I should've known different, but at the time I didn't. I don't hate myself for it and I certainly wouldn't consider my number to make me a slut. I never had one night stands or slept with a person who I wasn't committed too.
Now that I've grown up and learned that I do deserve at least decent treatment, there's no way in hell I'd let a guy do me the way I did before. I'd be like "Excuse me?! You're going to MAKE me do what?" *BITCH SLAP ACROSS THE FACE!* Lol
I think when it becomes a regular habit, one night stands, then a person should stop and think very carefully, do some self exploring before they end up regretting it and hating themselves down the road. I know so many women who do hate themselves and I don't think any number is worth self hatred. I think it's great to slow down and not ever use sex as a way to deal with things, but I wouldn't think any less of a person who had a high or low number.
Now 100, that is a high number to me, but I think a lot of feelings get involved and one night stands are sooo risky and I guess that's why I'm so cautious.
