Just a slight question, the requirements say rank 5.0 or higher but I'm a 5.0 and when I go to activate program it tells me I have to be a 5.0 or higher yet I am and it wont let me activate. Anyone got any advice???

I think it's more than that. I was turned down, and I'm over 6 and an old-timer here. I can understand why they don't take the time to tell everyone who applies why they were not accepted given the number of applications, but I still wish I knew.

I wonder if there are any plans to remove the old plagiarized reviews that were posted a week or two ago. There are a lot of them and it gets a little tedious having to hit "more tasks" five times just to get to the new ones.

Wow, considering all of the bogus reviews I am really glad for the Ef staff that they have you guys to help wade through them all.

I'm just wondering why some people are approved to the editors program (and as a result are accruing a massive amount of points for participating) who appear to have lower rankings and less/lower quality/lower number of reviews than people who are being declined??
I understand that there needs to be guidelines for who can participate just as there is with the mentor program - but if I'm a mentor aren't I good enough to edit? (sorry but that's the thought in my head)
I've also heard of editors earning thousands of points a day, some people editing numerous reviews a day and therefore earning a huge treasure trove of points. My little jealousy of not being included aside, shouldn't their be a cap on the number of reviews an editor can earn points from per day be capped like it is for all other point earning activities?
just my 2 cents worth

It has actually been capped at three reviews per day (between 250 and 400 points each) and three follow-ups per day (50 points each) for some time now. For some reason, this information has not been updated on the EdenPoints page where all the points for various activities are listed.

Im glad to see that it has been capped to allow more people to help out and reap the benefits. I just hope that in time more peoples applications will be approved so that all members of the community can participate.
thanks for your responses guys

Q: What is Eden Tasks?
A: Eden Tasks is a new ‘Market Place’ that allows contributors to earn points through performing various tasks posted by EF.

Q: What is the ‘Review Proofreading’ task?
A: The ‘Review Proofreading’ task is the first of hopefully many exciting Eden Tasks. ‘Review Proofreading’ will allow contributors to edit and publish the reviews that until now, only the Review Team have been able to edit and publish.
The ‘Review Proofreading’ task is a privilege that will be available to the more experienced reviewers (for obvious reasons). We will start out with a small test group initially to see how the program works. We will then add people as needed to balance out the flow or reviews.
An exciting side effect of the ‘Review Proofreading’ task is now mentors will have more control over the reviews of their students. (to highlight, correct, or make notes)
***
Here is some additional info:
- requests will generally be approved within 48 hours, M-F
- not all requests will be approved, some will be declined. Every request is approved or declined by a real person on The Review Team.
- factors for approval include rank, writing ability, community participation, and so on. Editors must be well-rounded
- any editor found to be overzealous in their corrections will be removed from the program
I hope this answers all of your initial questions, and I hope you all enjoy Eden Tasks (we have worked very hard on this for a while now). We look forward to working more closely with the community, as well as giving the community more control over the content and rewards for their activity. less

If it helps any I did discover you could re-apply, or rather that the system doesnt stop you from trying again. I think my nose is kinda out of joint as Ive seen a few people editing a lot of reviews who are of a lower rank to me, and they're members I hadn't ever seen around Eden before the last few weeks.

Just a friendly heads up!
I'm noticing that some editors are missing some obvious spelling mistakes when proofreading. Unless there is another glitch or something? Are they still able to go back and correct things they missed the first time around? (the editor, not the student)

I hope I haven't missed any! I think I always get the spelling mistakes. It just can get kind of difficult sorting out the grammar end of it sometimes. I don't want to over-edit, but I don't want something to be wrong, either. Like, I see places that I feel need commas but they aren't necessarily...necessar y, so I leave it. Or sentence fragments that I'm not sure how to fix or if they need fixing. Like, they bother me, but again, I don't want to edit things that don't absolutely have to be. Bah. Maybe it's just me?

Definitely not just you, I have the same problem. And hope I'm not missing any spelling errors. I'm usually a stickler for stuff like that, so I'd feel like an idiot if I missed something really obvious, lol

This has also led to a relaxing in the voting. I was doing that by the Eden rule book too: No obvious errors- excellent, 1-2 good etc. I thought that is how we were supposed to vote. Sorry if that offended anyone!
So Zen, again. I'm with ya. I try not to over edit, but I do fix run-ons and fragments. Those drive me crazy and can make something harder to read (especially run-ons) than commas in my opinion. Unless of course they use no commas at all lol.
From what I've seen, you are doing a great job.

Thanks. So are you, of course. And I used to do the same thing with voting before I actually became an editor. Like, I'd see an error and vote good instead of excellent. Now that I'm actually seeing how hard it can be to catch everything and find ways to fix some things, I'm definitely more relaxed with it. With fragments, yeah. I just don't know. If it's a sentence that says something like "Not very loud." it's not actually a sentence; it's a fragment. But do I change it and add a verb or just leave it to preserve the writer's voice? Gah! Haha.
