I went to the HP convention we had this past summer in Orlando - I didn't dress up as anything special, although I was accused of being Molly Weasley. We're gearing up for the next one there in 2012 (it's called Ascendio, you can look it up online - registration opens next summer). Most of my friends that I've met because of Harry Potter are legendary in the fandom for their writing and costuming.
I'm not into it as much as I used to be. I go to the cons to be with friends because it's the only time we can all get together. We're pretty high intellectuals - school teachers, computer programmers, research scientists, magazine writers, etc. That, I think, is the main difference in fan base between Twilight and HP ... I can't imagine any intellectual subsisting on Twilight fandom for long except as a guilty pleasure. less
