Oh...my, really? (The internets really do need a sarcasm font cause I can't usually tell the difference) But if you're being serious, just keep in mind: Twilight means never having to say you're kidding.

I do know what Twilight is but I am to old school to like it. To me it does not represent what vampires should be portrayed as. My wife and daughter bought the movies and I could not watch them.

I just pretend they're not vampires. Because vampires do NOT EFFING sparkle! (This is why I hate the fact that I liked the books... why I glance over the word "vampire" and pretend it says... I don't know... I can't think of something funny enough... oh wait! BUNNIES!)

I never could get into Dracula BUT I am a huge Buffy fan. Spike... is a vampire. Angel... well, Angel's kind of a wuss, but he's way more of a vampire than Edward Cullen. I like my vampires to be mean, and vicious, and sadistic, and a little insane. Mmmkay?

(And if you're a Buffy fan, you'll understand why I chose bunnies... Cute, fuzzy, hoppy, bunnies.) less

It's just that it's not even the same genre of book, so I don't get why they are compared so frequently. It's like asking people whether they like a steak or chocolate ice cream, the Lakers or the Cowboys... Yeah, the first two are foods and the second two are sports teams, but they're completely different types of each thing. Dinner vs. dessert, basketball team vs. football team.

It's just never made a whole lot of sense to me to compare the two. I like each series for what they are.

As a side note, a lot of people who have read the Twilight Saga and felt like Stephenie Meyer sucked as a writer later read The Host and loved it. I haven't been able to get very far in the book because I am also reading the Wizard's First Rule series and my mind goes to Richard and Kahlan every time she mentions 'The Seeker', but it is a better story so far. I actually think her writing style flows very well, she's a great story teller, it's just that the story in the Twilight books isn't appealing to everyone. less

I absolutely loved The Host. I also enjoyed the twilight series. But I am not as fond of the hype that surrounds them. They were an enjoyable read, but were they that good? No.

I also agree that it is difficult to compare the two. And people feel so strongly one way or the other.

HP movies are definitely superior, the Twilight books are entertaining and easier to read (for most, I would think), but I do think the Harry Potter series was better written.

But seriously, The Host is one of my favorite books. Hope you finish it...it is sooo good. less

I'm with you on that one - Dracula is great.

I made the mistake of seeing the first twilight and it was barely tolerable. When the 2nd one came out, I had already seen every thing else that was in the theaters and had a free ticket to waste so I saw it. Without question, it was the most horrible, insipid movie I've ever been subjected to. I ended up in the emergency room due to a severe estrogen overdose and needed testosterone treatments for months just to get back to normal. NEVER again! I'll take Harry Potter any day. less
