I'm not sure how many Canadian EF users there are here, but I am wondering if there is anyway to avoid the atrocious custom fees. I know when shopping online in the states, there is always that chance.. but I am wondering how it can be avoided, or if that is even possible?
I know that when I purchase things from Ebay users in America, they send as "gift" on the packaging sticker they have to fill out, that way it doesn't get charged... but I assume that EF will not ship as a gift since it is a larger company (only smaller companies usually do this because they do not have as many international orders going out).
I'm just curious because it is a serious B when they arrive asking for cheque or credit card when I have neither (I usually just buy gift credt cards to purchase online).

Don't use UPS! It's not customs, not taxes, and it doesn't have to do with the value of your package. UPS charges 'brokerage fee's' for some reason I have yet to figure out.
Most of my disposable income gets spent online, through Ebay, Julep, Clinique, Amazon, etc and of course Eden, from all over the world. I have never had to pay customs, duty's, taxes or anything extra for anything, at any time, for any reason, except the few times I have had to use UPS.
The last time ups was used to send something to me (from Eden) the value of the item was 2.10 (a back-ordered item that was sent to me automatically once it was back in stock) The extra fee? 15.08!
USPS might take a little longer, but at least you know what your getting.
