I almost always use extended. I use the standard when there's a particular way I'm wanting to present a product to review.

A lot of it has to do with audience. I'm really responsive to other people, so if I use too big of a word and somebody's eyes glaze over, I immediately freeze up and want to stop talking. I'm not shy at all if people are interested in what I'm saying.

Video reviewing is pretty easy because I don't have an audience getting bored while I'm talking

if i'm REALLY in love with a toy and have alot to say, it usually flows. i almost always use extended though, especially if i'm not excited about writing the review. it helps me with prompts, etc.

I normally do unless I think I can make something flow super well in a standard review or I'd get too repetitive or run out of things to say in each section.

Personally, I do because it helps keep me organized. However, I want to try the free form more because I sometimes feel that the extended format breaks up the natural flow.

I practiced hard and now I never do.

I do include my own headings in the standard format using

SECTION NAME

I usually do use, construction (with material, texture, design, shape and size all in one), performance (if it's a vibrator or somethign with performance), care and maintenance (unless it's silicone or glass, where I'll just work it into construction), and then final thoughts.

I hear that, one such person drives me nuts with how long the vid is, like we did not read the review. I guess I just like to see the short and sweet video's, not a full fledged review.

Some of the others I can't get past the first minute. lol

Does anyone have any stand-by pieces of advice to new reviewers?

What's the best advice you've gotten on a review you've done, written or video?

Guess I'm'a need to go watch some of Top2Bottom's! He must not do items I look at very often, because I don't think I've seen one...

I know exactly the type of reviews you're talking about. Everyone's different, so they'll like different kinds of reviews.

And I'm betting they're the reviews that (as a newbie) I'm sitting here going, "Wow..I really like seeing this and the way they show this.." etc. etc. etc.

I think the best advice for writing I received was: use pictures, locate the motor, how flexible is it, whats your favorite setting. I think those always help me when I am reading other reviews so now I take notice to put them in mine.

Something I like to ask my students (I hope it's helpful? Starkiller, feedback ?) is "What made this toy stand out to you, why did you choose it from among the other similar toys to this type?" and "Did it live up to your hopes?"

Most people have a motivation when they're buying a toy, and it's really useful for me to see if someone is hoping to get the same thing out of a toy that I'm hoping for.

I normally try to tell people who are looking for advice to try and explain something like they're talking to their best friend over the phone. Walk us through everything from the start; the packaging, your first impressions, and all that jazz.

I think the best advice I've gotten on a review is to not worry about including every single little detail. Oh! And Ivy Wilde messaged me privately to suggest using my inseam measurement for references instead of my outseam measurement like I had been. As soon as she suggested it I went "oh my goodness, I can't believe I didn't think of that on my own" and my lingerie reviews have gotten better because of it I think.

I don't think I've gotten much advice on my video reviews.

I pretty much have stopped making standard video reviews because I think mine were pretty dry and boring for the most part. Besides, the adult vids are more fun.

You are so beyond helpful you have no idea. You really make me think about how to answer questions. The first review you helped me with made it to the rumble so I think that testifies a lot. I really need to write my next review, I love working with you. Boo work.

Only for Descriptive review any more, unless there is a ton of features like a vibe might have. But in the early days I used it all the time, it really does help to get everything in.

Oh! And with my students I always suggest having an experience section. It doesn't have to be long and lengthy, but to me, having one that tells us why you were interested in the product to begin with and what you liked and didn't like about it really makes the review and the reviewer seem more personable and friendly. When I read a review without one I sometimes feel like the review is a little standoffish and "this is how it is" even when I know the reviewer doesn't mean it to come across that way.
