I think that a lot of main stream porn is quite formulaic and I often know more or less what acts and types of shots I'm going to see before I watch it. I wonder sometimes if those acts reflect what actually turns those individual performers on or if they're playing it into this pre-made model. Personally I'm turned on by people's quirks and idiosyncrasies.

I can also attest for many of my friends in the mainstream porn industry that have a REALLY good time on set. Its carzy because porn is this kind of sex work that is turned into a marketable mass produced product - so whatever FUN you may have had on set can then be totally screwed up by advertising, marketing, cover design, et cetera.

Every BODY is beautiful, sometimes it just takes having the ability to see it, and not only that but articulate what you see in a photograph. I think the downfall of most model oriented photography is that they want to photograph a subject, instead of a feeling or impression that is sometimes a little deeper than just surface appearance

This, exactly.

There are some mainstream porn directors where I can pretty much predict exactly what's going to happen next, and for how long, e.g. Brad Armstrong, where most of the scenes he directs are 30 second blowjob, 30 seconds missionary, 30 seconds doggy, 30 seconds reverse cowgirl, 30 seconds more blowjob, etc.

I'd rather get to see people explore each others bodies and do what they feel like doing. Sure, it can sometimes be helpful to edit it a bit afterwards, to improve the pacing, or to give some direction on what will make camera angles work out, but otherwise the performers should be allowed to do what they find exciting. When every scene is the same 5 things in the same order, it's pretty boring.

I havent worked with Buck Angel and can really relate to your feelings about his work 0 Can I suggest that you check out Billy Castro, James Darling, Cyd Loverboy - all trans men that have shown up in my films like Billy Castro Does the Mission, Bordello, and the Seven minutes in Heaven series.

I do amateur porn and most of my guys and girls say they like to see the true person not some scripted "actor" and that truth and having fun is what is so sexy.
