I am SO going to miss my Borders. Their erotica section was well-stocked and organized and had tons of Cleis titles. Sigh...

Both actually. He's got a thing for women dominating men, and I have a thing for well written stories. So I'll try to get books I know he'll enjoy and he reads them when I'm done with them. Except for a few months ago where he straight up took the book before I had a chance to read it for the review lol.

I think it was Borders that refused to carry a book with that title. I guess we don't have to worry about that anymore.
I was just thinking earlier, as I drove by a used record/CD store that has gone out of business since I last drove by it... brick and mortar video, music and book stores seem like they're going to be gone sooner rather than later.

We're going to miss you terribly while you're away. Don't stay gone too long. Pop in if you can while the little one is sleeping.

But maybe there will be a resurrection — all around the country, we'll find tiny retro stores of books and records — used and new. Independent and... I know, I know. But a girl can dream.

Borders took over my favorite old movie theater in the town where I grew up. I guess I'm still bitter.

I've been thinking about why we do or don't like certain stories, and wondering whether it's linked to how well we can feel ourselves in the part of the point of view character. Not identifying, exactly, because that might imply feeling similarities, but seeing things through her (or his) eyes and feeling through, well, whatever parts are feeling the most. Are you more turned on by feeling like you're watching players in a scene, or by feeling like you're in the scene yourself? Does it make a difference? Does a first-person perspective make a difference?

LOL! Good one! But I didn't know books weren't cool. When did that happen?

I just hope Barnes and Noble hangs on for awhile... at least to get me through my daughter's "mall years." I can take her and her friends to the mall and let them loose while I hide at the giant B&N store attached to the mall. I don't even have to officially go INTO the mall! (I hate the mall, if that was not already obvious )

I like the way you think, Sacchi.

I know almost immediately whether or not I'll like a story — the style grabs me or doesn't. But the ones that genuinely turn me on, even after all of these years of reading porn on a daily basis, those are often complete surprises.

I've honestly never really thought about it before. Most of the time I'm picturing players in a scene rather than myself I think. Then it's like porn but in my head, lol.

When people started turning every book ever made into a movie, and people got too lazy to read the books when they could just watch the movie instead.

I seem to lean more to stories that I can see myself stepping into, even if it is just in private that I would do it. There was a story last month about bondage at a truckstop diner that I can totally put myself into. (Hubby is a truckdriver) Or telling eachother our fantasys, things like that. I find if it is something that I can see and feel (to some extent) myself doing, I will totally get engrossed in it.

LIberty Hardy sure helps make books cool all by herself and so do writers such as Alison, sacchi and Kristina!
