Exactly! I agree about The Story of O. I enjoy it, but it's like films with subtitles, you have to want to work to keep reading. (That being said, I love foreign movies, when I have the time and energy to stare at the screen the whole time.... but as a rule, I am always multitasking and that does not work. I want something that will suck me in to the abyss so that I have no choice but to site there and read until the book is done.

I'm younger as well, and if I do go I plan to attend with a friend of mine and his wife who have a lot of friends there. Safety circle.

My dom and I are both young (early 20's). We made it a point to contact the group leaders first, let them know that we were new to the local scene and made a couple of good friends quickly and have let our little circle grow from there. In my experience, people don't want you to get creeped on and if they think that you're a good addition to the group, they'll tell you who to stay away from.

I wore my collar to the first couple of munches to make it very clear that I was hear with my Dominant and was not available for hitting on or play or anything.

Exactly! If it doesn't do that to me I don't finish the book. Vaguely off topic Laurell K Hamilton books do that for me. And in some of her latest novels she's started to include BDSM aspect. She plays in real life so it makes the books really awesome to read.

If you're on fetlife find your group and look for the group leaders/owners and contact them and tell them you're new and interested but intimidated. THey're generally pretty good about making sure you fall into the right hands, not the creepy ones.

I will have to look into them! I actually found that short story kink erotica just DOESN'T do it for me. I need something more substantial, a longer more involved scene.... I love Anne Rice, because I love that she feels the need to build the setting into something almost tangible, it makes putting yourself there really easy. She also writes really poetically so stories flow very well.
