If you're looking forward to December's Eden Cooks meeting, be sure you notice the date change! We're hosting the meeting a little bit early this year so I can share a perfect gingerbread recipe (it's structural, but still edible!) with you in time for the Gingerbread Extravaganza that Eden will be hosting
Because baking cookies and not being able to eat them (you can't have your chimney have a bite out of it!) feels unfair, I though I would also share one of my favorite cookie recipes, Lemon Zest Cookies, because they bake in 10 minutes while your oven is still hot, and you can make the dough while your gingerbread dough chills. And once you've used the lemon zest, you've still got all the juice left, so I'll teach you a simple winter cocktail as well.
Eden Cooks is a cooking club for any interested members of the Eden community. We will meet on the forum to discuss everything from tips and pointers for less well-equipped kitchens, explanations of cooking terms, and important techniques. There will be a featured recipe each meeting, with pictures taken as I prepare it for you. I will cover some ingredient substitutions to make each recipe more friendly to people with dietary restrictions.
During the meeting, five $10 gift cards to EF will be awarded to the winners of a trivia contest from information that I will provide during the meeting, and to those who share their own Holiday Cookie recipes. Bonus points for using citrus, because before refrigerated transport, December was the only time people in the Midwest could get their hands on lemons and oranges.
Remember the date change---The meeting will take place on the EdenFantasys forum in this very thread at 8 pm EST on Tuesday, December 11. These holiday meetings are somehow always the most fun, and I've already enjoyed testing out---and devouring---two different Lemon Zest Cookie recipes and one Gingerbread, so I know you'll love these too
