I now use a silicone menstrual cup. (The DivaCup, to be exact.) I love it!! I am a total convert, and like better than any disposable product on the market. I used to use OB tampons that don't have an applicator, and loved those. But now I'm a complete menstrual cup convert. It's absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
what kind of supplies do you use during menstruation?

I have been a disposable tampon girl as long as I can remember, but I just bought myself a menstrual cup (Lunette) and I can't wait to try it this month! I'm excited to try something new, and so much better for my body and the environment. We'll see how I like it!

I can't do pads. It makes me feel gross. I could change it a hundred times in an hour, and I'd still feel gross. :/ So... I use disposable tampons.
I'd love to try the Diva Cup, and be all green, but I'm not really sure I'd be able to put it in right, and I'd be so grossed out if I had to fiddle with it.
I am utterly bizarre. But I freely admit that.

Pads (freakin' diapers) all the way. I've never been comfortable wearing tampons.

I swear by my Diva Cup.

I have an IUD for birth control so my flow is super light. I can usually get away with using a panty liner but if I am going out, I use a tampon.

Disposable tampons for me
05/27/2011
Only pads unless I am going swimming.. then tampons. There has only been a couple occasions like that though.

I just started using a Lunette cup and I love it. It's very comfortable. I'm still gonna wear a pad as backup during the heavier days, though. After a couple of months of that I think I can trust myself to get a good seal formed every time.

I own a Lunette cup and I wouldn't use anything else!
05/28/2011
i know of no one who uses reusables

disposable tampons

Disposable tampons here. I prefer plastic applicator, as I bleed too much for cardboard. I need scented I feel because there are times that it smells down there and you can't avoid it. I always try to get the super or super plus.. because those will at least last me 2-3 hours (yeah.. the so called over night ones don't last me overnight..) I wish I didn't bleed so heavily.
Funnily enough, it seems to be the the storebrand knock-off usually works better than its original counterpart.

Personally I just switched to a menstrual cup and cloth pads after ten years of disposables. I find this an all too fascinating subject and one that I ignored for years. I wonder how many other women are out there that just avoid thinking about it just using what can be bought at wall-mart because they have been taught to give as little thought to the subject of menstruation as possible. I only recently discovered alternatives to disposables so if I missed anything let me know. Please only choose free bleeding if you never use any form of protection. the poll is private
as a bonus question I would be interested to know; Is anyone else more grossed out by a plastic bag of dried out disposable pads and tampon tubes than rinsed out cloth pads in the laundry hamper? less

I used my Lunette cup for the first time this month, and it's amazing! It was a little weird the first day, but then I got used to it, and loved it. It's easy to put in and take out, and made my time of the month SO much less painful. I think maybe the tampons were putting toxins into my body that were increasing the pain. Also, it was shorter. Not sure why, but I'm not complaining! I will never use anything else again!

Pads

I just got a Diva Cup finally! I had a Keeper when I was younger but lost it somewhere along the way. Was using disposable tampons and pads in the meantime, but they end up costing so much money and are wasteful.

Everyone seems to love these so much maybe I"ll have to give them a try. I haven't had a period in almost two years since I was pregnant and am still breastfeeding though I can feel the old engines firing up again (nice facial breakout and spotting, I felt so attractive). Thanks for sharing your experience!

I have given great thought to the reuse pads. But I don't know how well they work. Since it's cloth wouldn't you just bleed through it?

they have many layers of absorbent fabrics and some have waterproof undersides so it wont leak.
