A lot of times I will be on the verge of getting them from having sex frequently and then I will take a break for a few days and take a ton of cranberry pills and such and it will start to go away.
UTI Poll

I get them once a year or less now, but when I was first diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis a few years ago, I'd get them about every other month. Here's to hoping those days are long gone!!

from 20-22 or so I got lots. I was traveling constantly, living in the woods, masturbating with dirty fingers, etc.
These days I've learned the benifits of babywipes! And learned how to notice right away, and then I immediatly start chugging water, unsweetend cranberry juice and coffee (it's a diuretic), cut ALL sugar and anything that metabolizes into sugar (fruit, flour, rice, etc) and alcohol out of my diet. If I catch it quick, and take those steps, it's usually gone within 12-24 hours.

I started getting UTIS very frequently this year. I have had like 8 so far! And every 2 months or less!... I don't know what's wrong with me. To be honest, it kind of worries me.

I always get UTI's after taking antibiotics. However, I have been able to prevent them by taking over the counter yeast pills.

I remember my first UTI appeared when I was twelve years old and we were visiting Washington DC. I thought I was dying because I kept having urges to go but I wouldn't pee and it burned like hell. For about the next six or seven years, I got it maybe three times a year. Within the past two or three years, however, I notice that I always get a UTI about a week before my period starts. I try to keep up my water intake, but it's easier said than done with me being a college student who's always on the move and does not have time to remember to drink water.

never, very fortunate!

I don't but my sister just got her first

I've had one, and I hope to keep it that way. I'm pretty careful now and always pee after sex!
12/27/2012
I have only had one so far (fingers crossed)....I feel for you ladies who get it more often! It's hell!
12/28/2012
never had one
12/28/2012
None for me, at least that I remember.

Always been prone to them, but started really pushing water consumption and cranberry, and that seems to help make them more infrequent visitors to my body...

I got one once in my life, after waiting way too long to use the bathroom at work. I was the only one in the office all day and every time I would want to leave someone would call or come in. By the time I got to the bathroom it had been too long and later that evening I was going frequently, but not peeing and then started to see blood in my urine. It was a horrible experience. Kegels, cranberry juice, lots of water, and making sure I take care of my needs has kept me from ever getting another one.

I only get them when I forget to pee after a really extensive sex session. Two in recent memory, one recently and then one a year and a half ago.

It seems like UTIs (urinary tract infections) are a pretty common complaint among women. I'm just curious how frequent they are for the majority of us. So, how often do you get UTIs?

Yes, I do the same thing! I try to catch it the moment I feel I'm not peeing normally, before it ever starts hurting. I take cranberry or drink the juice. I also drink tons and tons of water - a sip every few minutes, if i remember - until the symptoms go away.

If I even THINK one may be coming on with symptoms (like frequent urination or urgency), I take cranberry supplements. They do *wonders* for me if I catch it before it becomes greatly infected.

i believe the last time i had a UTI was when i was in the fifth grade, because i would refuse to use the schools public restroom. I may have had one since, but dont remember. i have known people to be very prone to them though, having them once a month or more.

I've been lucky and never had one. Watching my aunt suffer with them chronically it makes me thankful that I never have.

The year I started having sex, I had 6 UTI's between March and November. Then I got tired of needing antibiotics all the time, I put my foot down on a Wear A Condom Every Time rule, and I haven't had one since.

Same here, after penetration with a latex condom (which I am allergic to) I had an UTI. Very interesting!
