UTI Poll

I get a severe form of bladder infection called sistitus. I've had normal UTI's, but never felt them. What I get is so severe, that after the first day when I feel the symptoms, I'm bleeding. It feels like someone's stabbing my urethra. It's very, very painful. Once I get the bleeding, it takes the full 10 days of antibiotics to finally get true relief. It's unfun. None of our doctors wanted to believe that it ran in the female side of the family. Finally, when giving my family history to my daughter's pediatrician, 3 days after she was born, she told me that chances were that our urethra was probably genetically a tad shorter than normal, and that it causes bacteria to build up so much that we get infections more easier. I don't know what felt better, the explanation, or someone finally believing that it ran in the family!!! No matter what we do (rarely drinking dark colas, drink plenty of cranberry juice and/or water, eat yogurt, not wear tight clothes), it still happens, and we just have to tough it out. I wasn't aware that they could stretch it out though. Hmmmmmm, may have to look into that. Thanks for the info!

It seems like UTIs (urinary tract infections) are a pretty common complaint among women. I'm just curious how frequent they are for the majority of us. So, how often do you get UTIs?

i've been very lucky

I used to get them as a kid. I only found out I actually had them after they did tests because I never seemed to get any symptoms. I think I was told I have a small urethra. Now I don't get them. At least, I haven't been told by the doctors I've got one! I don't seem to really get standard symptoms with it so I can't tell on my own.

I love taking baths when I'm depressed... so it happens to me as a result...

Before I switched to the DivaCup every time I got my period I would always get a rash and UTI. So every single month I would be at the doctors for antibiotics. I have been using the DivaCup for about 4 or 5 months and have not had a UTI since.

Remember to always pee after sex or masturbation and always make sure your toys and hands are clean when playing down stairs!

Luckily never had a UTI. I think women are either susceptible to them or not. Never had a yeast infection either. So far, I've been lucky with that kind of stuff.

I am very prone to UTIs and kidney infections.

Finally someone else had the same issue. I asked my doctor multiple time if it could be a condom causing it because I would get one, get rid of it and 2 weeks later boom it would be back and worse. My boyfriend and I don't use condoms often, I'm on birth control. Every time we used the same kind I'd get one. We changed condoms and I take cranberry pills daily and haven't had one since knock on wood.

I would suggest though if you are prone to them taking cranberry supplements helps so much.
