Yes. And they are horrible. UTIs are worse, but oh man, yeast infections suck. And having a UTI and yeast infection at the same time= hell on earth.

Ohhh god, I can't imagine having both at once. I think I would want to evict my vagina at that point, as great as she is most of the time. That kind of madness will not be tolerated!

I've only had one 1 time. And it was more than enough! It was pretty terrible. I feel really bad for those women who get them all the time.

I'm going to go hide now.

My wife has had a few in our 20+ years together. Things have come a long way since you don't have to go to a doctor to get prescription and the single dose treatment.
They're not fun, but they are a relatively minor event compared to the old days!

I remember seeing a commercial a while ago that said "3 out of 4 women will get a yeast infection" and I guess it meant at least one in their lifetime. So far it looks like 4 out of 5 voters have had yeast infections.

I used to get them ALL the time as a kid. Which is weird.
But since puberty, I've had only two. One I didn't even know I had, but I went in to the gyno for my yearly and she said I did. Despite blissful ignorance on my part.
The other one came from KY Yours and Mine and was pure hell.
It came so hard, I was at CVS Pharmacy at 3am one night, hunting for Monistat.

Yeah, they suck. And the OTC meds do nothing for me. I don't know if I'm allergic or just resistant, but they usually just make it worse. If I get one, I HAVE to go to the doctor, and even then I sometimes have to take to rounds of treatment for it to go away.
I thankfully haven't had one in months, though. I used to get them at least once a month, but then I realized I just have a very sensitive vagina. I'm allergic to things like contraceptive film and condoms. Went on the pill, and haven't had an infection or UTI since.

I've only had it once *so far* when I was in high school and I let it go on a little longer then I should have. I didn't know what it was at the time and I was nervous to get it checked out so I let it be for a few months. :/
02/17/2011
NO, but I have had a UTI.
02/17/2011
I never had a yeast infection until my doctor put me on long term antibiotics. Then I got them all the time and had to start taking probiotics. I still get them in spite of the probiotics but they are much less aggravating than they used to be.
02/17/2011
I have -- I'm not sure about everyone else, but I get them externally, on and around my inner labia. The first time was a few years ago, and I remember freaking out because I had no idea what was wrong.
02/17/2011
I have, more than once, and all you ladies who have not, thank your lucky stars. They are just as horrid as everyone says they are.
02/18/2011
I struggled with chronic/recurring yeast infections several years ago. Now I know that I have certain sensitivities (glycerin in lube, for example) and take steps to prevent them. Stress for me is another trigger, as is taking antibiotics. I hate them!

Agree 100% and I have a UTI now, it sucks. I eat yogurt to combat a possible yeast infection as well while taking the antibiotics.

I just said to my b/f last night that guys don't have half the issues as women. My guy was somewhat haphazard cleaning toys before I reminded him that if guys were getting UTI"s they would behave differently.
02/18/2011
yes. after being hospitalized and pumped full of iv antibiotics, then pills.
02/20/2011
When I was on the pill I used to get them rather frequently (3-4 times a year) and since going off, I have had only one and that was when I was on antibiotics.
02/20/2011
I must have a steel vagina. I have been lucky so far and hopefully it continues.
02/20/2011
Yep, but only as a result of taking penicillin and its generic versions. It's particularly sucky because medicines to cure yeast infections are useless when it's the result of antibiotics. So I have to suffer with it until I'm off the antibiotic which could take up to two weeks or longer.
02/22/2011
I only get them when I'm on antibiotics. It really sucks.
02/22/2011
Yeah, they suck.
02/23/2011
They're the worst
02/23/2011
Nope.
02/25/2011
I've only ever had UTI's because i'm really prone to those. No other infections THANK GAWED. I've heard so many horror stories.
02/25/2011
Yes. only once, and it was so not fun.
02/26/2011
Nope never had. Luckily, Knock on wood.

It may not completely alleviate it but I think that the topical cremes would at least help alleviate some of the problem. I'm on a low dose of long term antibiotics which is different from the high dose of short term antibiotics that you're probably on, but my yeast infections are all caused by antibiotics and the cream usually treats them.

I almost always get one when I am placed on whatever antibiotic they give me for strep throat. I get strep easily, just how my body works, at -least- once every three years. I can never remember which antibiotic they put me on, so it's always the same one, and I always get a yeast infection. Since I'm on Medicaid, it's like, either pay for my own antibiotics, or pay for the Monistat later, cuz it's -gonna- happen. Not cool.
*I believe it's amoxicillin. Blargh.
