Alright, Eden Fantasys, I want to know what you do with your old sex toys? My friend recently suggested a toy recycling program, but I'm still not fully certain. How do you feel about toy recycling through a program such as this one? Or about giving away toys that have been used?
Would you participate in a toy recycling program? Would you give away old toys?

I'd have to vote for never use a toy recycling program. Some toys you just can't get clean enough. I wouldn't want to get something that someone has stuck up their butt (or any other whole). I almost feel it is rude, and extremly gross. Some toys are so cheap I'd rather buy them one. If its more of the expensive toy like glass or silicone, people aren't going to give those away if they spend the money on it. People would mostly give a way cheap items they don't use.

I would have to agree with Miss Nessa and im really fresh, I dont like germs or anything of that sort even though I am 100% for recycling I dont think I could do it because in he back of my head i'll be worried about whos sex toys it was before it was turned into mine.

While I applaud their efforts, I'm too skeptical to participate in anything like that. It's been suggested that Eden get into this end of the business, but the undertaking would be massive and participation probably wouldn't warrant the cost or effort.

I would be happy to give them away. I would NEVER want to use a "used toy"...but I have many, some expensive, that I tried once...didn't like and there they sit in a closet. Even a few..one VERY expensive, that I got, realized it was WAY bigger then expected (not from EF with their awesome size measure), but I NEVER used it and there it sits!!!! I would love to get rid of these, since I cannot bear the thought of just tossing in the trash.

They would end up having to assume responsibility if someone claimed an infection or whatever from a "used toy". The liability would be the scary part.

Bingo. I don't think a lot of these toys could stand up to a real, hospital grade of "sterilization". Anything "used" would need at LEAST that level of cleaning. That is expensive and not easy to do, either.

That's not necessarily true. If the company is an LLC (limited liability) and it's stated where the consumer can see it, it becomes a use at your own risk situation. Either way, I think it's a pretty ridiculous concept. Except for the part about using the materials to pave playgrounds and stuff like that.

I would participate in a toy recycling program.

I get an impression that people who posted in this thread didn't read how this system works. Recycling means destroying the toys to make new things from the materials. It's done with other personal items and it can be done with sex-toys too.
I would participate in the program if I had something like that in my country and had toys that I wanted gone (broken, causing unpleasant reactions etc.). The alternatives to recycling are: the tip and hoarding (which is basically making a tip in your home).
It's not a toy exchange program - read the "How it works page", please

I'm pro-recycling in general, and I'm glad this program exists. I especially like how they harvest the some stuff (silicone and certain rubbers) for new toys and re-purpose other stuff for non-sex toy purposes. I have long thought that I would love to see recycling of sex toys... but for insulation or something, not for making more sex toys. But it makes sense to do so with the materials that can be sterilized.
That said, I don't think I could do this with most of my equipment, certainly not a silicone cock that is not going to wear out on me or anything. My cocks are a part of me, so the idea of sending them away to be ground up just doesn't mesh. Even a beloved but broken Silky has too many memories to send away. I hope someday, maybe my 69th birthday or something, we'll break out a box of broken scrubbed Silkies and have a big ol Silky fight.
I know there are plenty of people who don't identify so heavily with their toys this way, hell I know people who get new toys for every new relationship, and that works too so more power to them. I'm glad these programs exist because otherwise those old toys would just end up in a landfill.
I hope people will consider buying a recycled toy because their method seems solid- only the core is made of recycled material, and it's sealed off by a fresh layer of silicone. That layer is not porous so no one is coming in contact with the sterilized recycled material.
Plus their little "dildo tree" picture on the "Shopping Green" section of the website is adorable. Seriously, even if the idea grosses you out, go see the dildo tree: link
I'm not thrilled about the bottom of this page: link where they suggest that people use fruits and veggies as dildos, electric toothbrushes as vibrators, etc. There is no mention of the heavy consequences that can result from doing that. I would expect people who know so much about sex toys to be more responsible.

I would give away my old toys, and would use second hand ones if they were made from silicone or something sterilizable.
08/28/2011
Like Wild Orchid said, that website states that they're making entirely new toys from old ones, not taking old toys and giving them to someone else in whatever state they're in. To make new toys, the materials would have to be MELTED DOWN, pretty well ensuring any germs would be long dead. Seeing as that site also offers credits for turning in toys to be recycled, it doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

Sex toys are generally something that people want new and unused and made from new materials. To those people, it probably doesn't really matter how the program works, they just know they don't want those recycled toys. I'm one of them. I don't want a toy made out of recycled materials, but I would have no problem sending in toys to be destroyed.

If someone is willing to use toys made from recycled toys, I'm happy to send them in! Still, the thought of using something in my private areas that has been in someone else's....not too keen on that idea.
08/29/2011
I would gladly give away my old toys. I have no use for them, so if somebody else wants them they can have them!
08/29/2011
For sanitary reasons, no. I would never use used toys. It would also weird me out, knowing someone else had used the toy. Dunno...just sort of ruin the mood?
08/29/2011
I don't think I'd ever use someone else's toy, but I'd give away mine.
08/30/2011
Pretty sure it's illegal to sell used toys, and I figure there's a good reason for it.
08/30/2011
I invested to much money in my toys. I cant just give them away !
08/30/2011
I give some of my used toys to girlfriends but only after I sterilize them, silicone toys. Never have given away metal or glass toys. My old jelly toys, I just dumped with the trash
08/30/2011
I would give out ones that are appropriate to gift out. I would never give someone a jelly toy. I only have one and plan on throwing it out. They break down these used toys to make new ones, I think this is great! I would do it and would buy some of them also.
08/30/2011
I don't think I could give my toys away. I love them all, and I'd feel uncomfortable with someone else using them.
09/04/2011
I've sent off electrical toys to be recycled - in fact, it's a legal requirement in the UK to dispose of any electrical waste properly. Basically the toy is dismantled and all the various internal bits and rare metals are recycled appropriately. The program I use doesn't take non-electrical things such as dildos, and for them, I simply discard them.
09/07/2011
I throw my worn out toys in an unlocked dumpster across town around 2AM. Given the fact that twenty toys hardly equal the material in one tire that gets chucked, I have no problem with tossing out a toy.
09/07/2011
The only toys I would and have ever given away were made of glass and were sterilizable. I didn't always give them away, and sometimes sold them. Most of the ones I got rid of were expensive glass pieces. I still get rid of the ones I don't like if it's been a year and they just don't rub me the right way. But anything other than that gets completely trashed. It's so gross.
09/07/2011
SOME toys can be sterilized, so maaaaaybe. But honestly that really freaks me out. If I am going to be using used sex toys, it could only be from someone I know and trust, and it has to be sterilized
09/10/2011
I'm a bargain hunter buuut there's a few things I want to be the first to ever touch... like tampons, food, carpets, dildos etc
