Splendwhore mentioned in her vid review of the onye that it might be a good choice for mothers day, and I woudl be inclined to agree with her. Such a pretty presentation and sounds like it is a very good quality toy. Pretty affordable for a luxury vibe too.
Would you buy your mother a sex toy?

I bought her a Hitatchi, which she complained was too hard to manipulate and reach her sore rotator cuff, and a velvet cote vibe which she said "are you supposed to put this inside yourself? Thank you, but I threw it out in my neighbor's trash".

I bought my mom a corset, thong and thigh highs for Christmas this past year. I also gave her a bottle of some great water-based lube to try. I think she owns a basic silver bullet and a peach jelly dildo she's had since I was like 12 (I'm 26 now). I'm kind of disappointed because she hasn't used the corset outfit yet. She's worried about my brother hearing her and my dad. He spent this past weekend at my uncles house though, so I'm hoping they got the chance to try it out.
I'm thinking of buying her a squishy silicone vibrator to replace that nasty jelly toy, at some point.

I have bought sex toys for my mom and keep on doing so. I am going to get her the lonestar once we have it in beige since that is the color she wants it in.
When she saw the video review done by a contributor she fell in love with it right away and told me that she wanted it. Of course she can afford it but I want to get it for her.
I don't feel weird about it and my mom isnt weirded out by it either. If anything, my mom always consults me whenever she needs to add something to her arsenal to make sure she is going to make a good choice according to her tastes.
My mom is quite active in her sex life but she very much enjoys self-pleasurising. If she needs anything i'm her go to person and if I can splurge for her it makes me happy to do so, knowing she is getting something of excellent quality.

This makes me think of my dad. I don't think he's gotten laid in... well, a seriously long time (5+ years), and I'm wondering if I should get him a Fleshlight or something.
To be honest, I think same-gender parent-adult child (i.e. a daughter giving her mother a vibrator, or a son giving his dad a masturbator) would be fine, but cross-gender might make it just THAT much more awkward than it would be otherwise.

I'm thinking of giving my mom the OhMiBod Freestyle I won. I already own one, & it might be a good way to break the ice about what I've been doing.. I'm just really nervous what her reaction might be! I'm barely into my 20's, and therefore still very much in that child mentality. Giving a sex toy to my mom, while cool in theory, might be a bit too much for either of us.
06/16/2010
I rarely buy my mom any sex toys, because she's already a reviewer for EF and gets plenty for herself.
06/23/2010
My real mom is dead, so no. My step-mother isn't exactly approving of me reviewing and selling sex toys, so I wouldn't give her anything but massage oil or candles. Since my FIL passed away, I thought about maybe giving my MIL a Hitachi Magic Wand because she's very lonely and not likely to start dating anyone, but my husband said absolutely not.
06/27/2010
I would for my mother-in-law, but knowing her she would assume I was just joking with her. LOL.
06/29/2010
I think it would be a little strange for me.

I used to be a consultant for one of those at home party companies, and I had an extra rabbit vibrator that I gave to my Mom when she was in her late 50's. She loved it! But she kept it hidden from my traditional father and would only use it when he wasn't home.

For the woman who admitted she would slap my hand when I touched myself when she was changing my diaper? For the woman who told me female "private parts" don't have a name. Not even DOCTORS use a name for them? Because they are so "Dirty?" For the woman who, when I asked "What do Gay people do?" Made a gagging noise and told me it was so sinful and disgusting that she couldn't THINK about it?
Fuck NO! Not in a million years.
AFAIK, she never liked sex, anyway.
(Damn, am I in a pissy mood today, or what?)

HAHAHA, Sounds JUST like my mom. I would NEVER in a million years give my mom a sex toy. She would probably drop dead if I did. Hell, she'd probably drop dead if she found out I use them (Yes, she is that naive!)

I would totally buy my mom a toy. Recently she asked a few questions about different toys and asked me to help her find a new one. I think she was a little shy about it, which is really strange for her, but she kept the details to a minimum. I told her about all the toys I thought she would like, then I sent her a link to the 3 or 4 that I suggested and she ended up buying a Form 6.
I think she was afraid I would be freaked out. I wasn't at all freaked out, I thought it was awesome.

Not my mother she is closed minded...

I think it's so funny I found this post when I did. I am the type of person who starts thinking about Christmas in July. And I have been wracking my brain trying to think of something to buy my mother and sister this year. Every year I try to buy my mother something practical and they never seem to go over that well. However, the other day while at her house I needed a bandaid and found her mini stash of "massagers". I figured maybe this year I'll buy her AND my sister (we have a bit of a sibling rivalry thing going about sex) a vibe....or maybe mom a gift card with a "you better use it" and my sister a vibe....HMMMM....now you have me thinking.

Personally, my mother would not appreciate such a gesture. She's very... vanilla and she and my dad seem pretty happy to do it the old fashioned way (parents, always the last to adopt new technologies, right?)

If I could be certain that she would not be offended and that she would be open to using it, then yes. My father is terminally ill and in a nursing home due to the amount of care that he needs around the clock. I know my mom is under a lot of stress and she is also missing him (he also has Alzheimer's so he is not really "there" when she tries to spend time with him).
But I don't think right now is a good time to try to broach the subject of vibrators. I have no idea how she would respond since she has never been very open to discussing sex. Still, I know she would never look into getting one for herself and I can't help but feel that it might enhance her life.

My mom is into toys.....but there's no way I'd get her one.
I've debated sharing EF with her...but I can't even bring myself to do that. Guess I don't want to ruin her perception of me. LOL..

I've been thinking that if there was ever a gift she might actually have a great time with, it would be a great vibrator. As far as I know she doesn't use one. She's not internet savvy and I can't see her venturing into a sex shop. I can imagine mothers buying their teen daughters a vibe. But in general I've never had a relationship like that with my mum. I'm not meant to imagine my parents as sexual beings, am I? I don't even know if my dad would be happy about my mum getting a vibe, and he'd probably wonder where she'd got it, lol! Could open a whole tin of worms!
Still I can't help but think it is an awesome concept. A gift of a good vibe seems to be something just so much more, for so many reasons. I'm guessing whatever I get for her would have to be non-intimidating, luxury, pretty and discreet.
I hope I haven't made you all scream internally with the concept. This is a pretty fresh thought right now and I'm pretty happy making my own decision. But I thought I'd open your minds and get your thoughts on whether you'd buy a sex toy for your own mum.

For the women who despite being of advanced age herself thinks the idea of ED medications is disgusting because the idea of older adults falling in love let alone have sex is repulsive to her. For the women who made me write this post on my blog: link

I wish I could, but sex is a very closed off, personal subject in my family. I've literally been told "If it feels good, you probably shouldn't be doing it". :/
10/18/2010
Definitely depends on your gender. I'm a girl and it would be fine, but my mom hates vibrators so I'd probably go with something she could use with her boyfriend. Plus we have a more buddy buddy relationship than a mom daughter one.
