This has happened to me before, which is why I love Eden so much! I can read reviews on each product and decide what would be best for me.

I quickly learned that powerful meant...a marketing technique to sell a cheap product that is not really that powerful.
Have you ever had this experience? Did you learn very quickly to rely on reviews or on your won judgement? How has that worked out for you? less

Power is also in the eye of the beholder..
04/21/2011
I am in the minority here because I don't need especially strong vibrations to orgasm. It's been rare that I've been disappointed by lack of power in a toy.
04/21/2011
Reviews are super helpful. Though, I work in a sex shop so anytime I have doubts about a toy's power I can just pop some batteries into one and check it out for myself. If I had to rely on advertising alone I think I'd never end up buying anything, since apparently EVERY toy is mind-blowingly orgasmic and powerful.

It has happened to me before. That's why I rely on the reviews here on Eden when making my decisions on which toys to get next.
04/22/2011
I don't even always agree with the reviews on whether a vibe is powerful or not. But yeah, it happened more often before EF and the reviews.
04/22/2011
totally happens. but it's a business...
04/27/2011
I will not buy something without reading a few reviews first. Adds are too deceiving these days.

I don't rely on reviews all that much anymore to tell me that something is powerful. I've purchased several things, one thing being the Layaspot, that EVERYONE said was stupid powerful and OHMYGOD amazing. When I got it it barely tickled me and was something I wished I hadn't invested in. I've learned through my own experience that some manufacturers just make weak toys. I do testify to the strength of toys in my reviews, but not everyone is the same and not everyone has a clit of steel like I do.
05/30/2011
my first vibrator was actually very powerful and i bought it at a store not knowing much about it. but it has happened once before.
05/30/2011
I love EF, because it lets you see what they rate the power and noise, as well as what other users rate it's power and noise. I mean everyone is different, what some may call too strong is just right for others.
05/30/2011
I do read the reviews, but I have a clit of steel so what is powerful to one person is not to me

We have learned to not believe the manufacturer's hype, but rather to research and do our homework. My wife is definitely in the needs a strong vibration camp, and there are some that while they look nice they just don't work strongly enough for her.

I have learned to NEVER believe a paid review, the manufacturer or sales persons. Too many times the item being sold is not up to par, not powerful or is cheaply made. I am a believer in reviews such as the ones on this site - normal toy users with no hidden agenda. TG4EF!

I refuse to buy a product without reading the reviews...I definitely bought some real duds before EF.

I bought some cheesy ass toys before I discovered EF & the reviews on here. Such a god send! I've recently come across some other sites that give reviews as well, and they're still NOTHING like EF & all the information on here.

reviews can be helpful, but also misleading. i find it's hit or miss. i always look at the reviews, but sometimes you just have to take a chance and knowing your body, choose the best toys for you.

I completely concur (except for the Hitachi part - am I the only person in the world who HATES that thing)? The reviews here are a necessity for me before I buy a toy... I read several at least before making a decision and try to find at least one video review as well. Not only that, but I take into acount who the reviewer is, the features, their experience with it, and so on and so forth. Plus, I've learned so much from reading reviews - lube compatability, body-safe materials, chemicals in lubes, the difference btwn length of toy & insertable length, & soooo much more. EF really has been a godsend when it comes to buying toys & other related products.

What makes me sad though, is relying on good reviews, and then people saying its powerful when it totally isn't! It usually doesn't happen, but sometimes... so disappointing!! less
