I recently noticed that I feel compelled to give 5 stars if a review has a video that is more than a minute long. It just seems like the individual is putting in significant effort. Do you find yourself rating reviews with videos 5 stars?
Do you automatically give 5 stars to reviews with videos?

It depends on the review. A good review is a good review.
But the video gives the person a chance to express their thoughts on the product while showing instead of trying to figure out the words to describe it.
Generally, the people who have ranks high enough to make videos are writing excellent review by then anyways. And I think that may have something to do with it.

Absolutely not. Recently I ran across a video "review" that was probably four minutes long, but it was four minutes of dildos as actors, playing out a western. It was pretty ridiculous, and incredibly useless to boot. I rate fairly, and that review I rated almost as if the video wasn't even there.
03/16/2012
I just rate based on what I think they deserve. Good reviews will get better ratings than not so good ones.
03/16/2012
I rate a review based on the review not the video or photos. I think your review needs to stand out because of what is written not because you included a video or photos. A well written review with a video and/or photos is a higher rated review. But a poorly written review with a video and/or photos is still a poorly written review. I vote fair based on the review, videos and photos are extras to me.
03/16/2012
Of course not! I rate a review depending on its content. A video is sometimes not very useful. For example, some of the "adult" reviews are just soft porn commercials for the product. I dont find them useful really. Sexy, yes, but not useful.

No. When someone decides to and is gets permission to put a video on a review (and there is usually only ONE video allowed PER product, so you have to ask to do a video before anyone else) the reviewer gets an Eden Gift card, (between $25.00 and $50.00) plus gets on EdenTube, where the video may be rated on it's own.
I've seen crappy reviews with videos attached. I don't "automatically" give any review and EU, pictures, videos or whatever. I admit that pics often help reviews, but videos don't always.
Plus, only ONE review is going to be allowed to have a video attached to it, so any after that are not given permission to do the review, at least not and get credit for it.
In many ways, it's actually easier to make a video than to write a useful review.
Plus, we don't rate reviews with "stars." How "useful" the review was to the reader is used as a rating system. The "stars" are on the product page, for how much you like the item.

Definitely not. I think a video can be a great addition to a review, but there's a big difference between a video that actually provides extra content/info versus one that is just there for show.
03/16/2012
No I've never felt the need to do this. If it deserves EU then it gets EU.
03/16/2012
No way. I vote based on the quality of the review itself. When rating videos on EdenTube, I rate them what I think they deserve. Just because a video review was posted doesn't mean it's automatically good or helpful in any way. The same as a text review - just because it's posted doesn't automatically mean it's helpful or good. I rate everything what I think it deserves.
03/16/2012
No, the video is separate from the review for me.
03/16/2012
I often give higher ratings to reviews with videos, but only because they tend to be more helpful. This is only for informative videos, though - not erotic videos or what amounts to a commercial for the product.

Okay I won't name anyone or even hint which person, video, product. But when someone makes a 7 minute video without any written reviews, gets credit for it for talking like a 4 year old, repeating themselves and even saying, "so like umm I am reviewing this one here, i'm not sure what this is" WTF EDEN!!!!!

Any ways, that video pissed me off. Just showed me that people can get away with making a bad video review that repeats the same stuff over...and over....and over.. and makes hardly any sense..
But more on point now that I ranted, I don't vote on a written review based on what/if a video review is attached. Video reviews can be rated on their page, and written reviews are rated on the review itself. I feel they are 2 separate things. SO if you have a really great video, I'll rate it high, but the written review is terrible, i'm sorry but the video review won't save you
03/16/2012
It all depends on how much work went into the video. I personally find it easier to make a video than to write something out, but I dont because I am not really comfortable with that idea.
03/16/2012
I appreciate detailed reviews that compare the other like products.
03/16/2012
Absolutely not! That is dishonest. Most of the time, I don't even watch the videos! It'll get five stars if the review has all of the necessary information. It shouldn't be missing ANYTHING just because it has a video. For example, some people are viewing the site with screen-readers. Your video is only good for hearing, then. What if you show something that you didn't describe in your review? Besides, like I said, some people don't watch videos and they shouldn't have to in order to get the full picture. Videos are for adding information that you simply could NOT write in a review or just as a companion.
03/16/2012
nope
03/16/2012
Typically, not usually.
If there's a video review and a well written review (maybe with pictures) I'll rate it higher than a plain text review.

I keep it as real as possible

I wish I could rate videos because there is a couple but especially one poster that puts up the most useless vids ever!! WAste of my time to even hope they will show the entire product. This isn't an art site so why on earth does she keep posting them.
I can't give her a bad vote on her written review so I just fume.

with most of them, i do. only because i like the extra information. but i have seen a lot of videos that don't offer any new information, aren't that great or i can't hear the person talking or see the product very well. so it depends on how good it actually is

Nope, it depends on the entire review.
03/16/2012
I just started doing video reviews. I vote based on the information in the review not the video. I would not want anyone to do that for me either. My video reviews are a short clip of what I say in my review, but I make sure my reviews explain it all.
03/16/2012
It really depends. I tend to think that for most people it takes more time to type out a lot of these reviews.

I have only really liked some reviews and one of them was in a review roundup where she wore her body stocking under an outfit and it worked perfectly..
03/16/2012
I value the actual reviews more than the videos, but good videos are a big plus.
03/16/2012
I'm really not a fan of the video reviews. Like Teacookie, I find many of them of questionable usefulness, and I've clicked on so many that were poorly shot, poorly lit, poorly mic'ed and didn't tell me much about the product that I now hesitate to look at new ones unless it's a video reviewer I trust (I'm looking at you Carrie Ann ).
In fact, I often won't rate an attached written review because I'm sure my annoyance at a video will lead me to be harsh.
