I say fine when I am still mad but I can't seem to communicate with the other person and we are just going in circles. Fine is a four letter word in our house.
Does fine ever really mean everything is fine?

I'm a woman and when I say fine it means, "I don't @^#&in want you to and you should know it, but I'm leaving it up to you to make the right decision."

As a guy I cringe inwardly (and many times outwardly) when my SO says "it's fine". When I say something is fine I mean it is okay and there is nothing wrong with it. When she says fine, it usually means you are going to be fixing this later and I am going to hold it over you until you do...or sometimes something even worse. Does anyone else experience this? Is it really a man/woman thing? Please vote and discuss...(I left the poll private so as not to set up your own "fine" situation in your own household.

my husband and I really don't use that term. We have gotten so comfortable that there is no word play and when one of us is pissed we both know it.

I'm a woman and I'm fine can mean I'm fine or it can mean that I'm dealing with something and I don't want to talk about it then. It's not really a "you're in trouble" thing as it is "I'm dealing with something internally" thing. I'm upset about something but it's probably nothing anyone can fix or I'm just not ready to talk about it. I use it to hide bad news for a bit sometimes.
