I speak plain English and he speaks "Guy Talk" which is a series of grunts, moans and farts. He says "I have no idea what you are talking about most of the time." I feel the same. When he talks about work (He's an engineer.....and I'm not.) I am so bored and lost, I just don't understand. But, that doesn't stop him from telling me stuff.

Her first language is Cantonese. For some reason, she really doesn't speak it much around me, even though I've asked her to teach me some.

We're both boring and speak only English. I speak a little bit of Spanish, but not much. He's taking classes to learn more Spanish.

We speak the same language (English), but we've managed to make up our own language that only each of us understands. It's rather fun when we're in public or with friends.

I'm an engineer as well - my wife wonders why I don't talk a lot - you nailed it.

Sweetie your not going to understand anyway - so why waste my breath and your time! Why don't you just tell me about your room full of 8-year olds (3rd grade teacher), they're more interesting and we'll both understand the conversation.

My girlfriend is bilingual, French/English. Her first language was French, although she grew up in Chicago. (She learned English when she went to Kindergarten.)

LOL! I can see My Man's eyes glazing over when I tell him about the baby I taught to breastfeed, or the toddler I babysat last week. He may smile absently and say, "Yeah, cute." But, he says I have a tendency to start talking in the middle of a thought. He does, too!

Last night, we were lying in bed, I had on one of my "Fuck Me" nighties, I was all over him, and he was going on about some project he was building....I was going, "Uh huh. I'm sure it'll be fine. OOOO, you smell good." He finally turned to me and said, "Do you need me to go down on you or something?" WOW, take a hint much? It ended up being a beautiful evening, and after we slept for the night and picked up where we left off this morning.

He is SO intense about his work, I try to be nice. Really.

But, when he's in a "mood" the Guy Talk. "Mmm, uh huh, grunt, er, I dunno. Hmm." *BLART* *sigh*

Nice - thanks. My story isn't as fun. The 8 yr olds had her so worn out, she just rolled over leaving me - well - alone. Hopefully the weekend will be better.

I heard from another couple that it doesn't work to have your lover teach you a language; it's best to learn it from a third party. I've only succeeded in learning words like 'boobs' and 'poop' in Mandarin from her.

My partner's first language is Dutch, and mine is (technically) Korean, but we both speak English quite fluently! The only difference is, I live in America so I suppose it comes most naturally to me.
