I just quit smoking about a week ago. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this and what their input is.
What's your relationship with smoking?

Good luck quitting this time, Mr. Sauce! You can do it!
My parents smoke and the smell always repulsed me - I guess that was a good anti-smoking lesson in itself. I have never even tried it.
I have other things that I have tried to quit though, like sugar... and it's not going so well. I think it's tough when your body adjusts to something, and you relate that thing to pleasure or comfort or routine.

I've never liked smoking and have never found it attractive. The smell is horrible. I've never tried it.

it just seemed to be the right time for me: my rolling machine broke, down to the bottom of the tobacco bag, tubes didn't fit. I had also just lowered my cholesterol by 70 points in about 2 months and dropped about 20 lbs.
So far, it's about a week...here's to hoping!

I have really bad asthma and I'm allergic to smoke, so... yeah.

My Dad smoked - it was such a dirty nasty habit I couldn't even contemplate smoking. Being an athlete helped me avoid the peer pressure.

My first wife started smoking - probably never stopped - straight to divorce court.

I'm with toygirl2. I've got asthma and I have enough trouble breathing just passing strangers who are smoking in public.
A lot of people smoked around me growing up and the smell has always made me sick to my stomach.
Good luck quitting this time.

My little girl wanted me to quit because it made her upset. So I did. I still get withdrawal symptoms, but I ignore them now. Better for me, better for the environment, and it was the right thing to do.

I used to smoke cloves during paper-writing marathons in college, but now that they're banned I have absolutely no interest in smoking anything else. I've got asthma, and the natural analgesics in cloves actually made my lungs feel better, but without them smoke makes me feel a lot worse.

In MI, they're now considered cigars instead of cigarettes. Some of my friends would put actually clove stems in their rolling machines with tobacco to have the taste...which is exactly the same.

smoking since i was 17.. im 24 now..i tried stopping it for several times. the longest span was 3months but my persistence and will cant fight my longing..so i get on it again.Let me share what i know or what ive learned from it. Trying to stop from it must have your own control and your anticipation to stop! despite and in respect to all the methods they give the end problem would be yourself. that is your mind controlling your wants or looking for cigarette. 1week is not that long but its a good start. like i said. i stopped it for 3months. remember this that if you fail to stop and get on it again. it will make the scenario worsts. as a result the number of cigarette will increase dramatically. you will not notice that of course because of denials.just dont get on it again.. if you stop then stop. dont do my mistake.. but its my new years resolution anyways.. so goodluck to all of us

Both of my parents smoke, and honestly, after all those years of smelling it, I just have no interest in ever actually smoking.

Me and nubby both smoke and both need to quit. We have tried many times but just couldn't do it. Now we have gotten worse and smoke way more due to some things that have happened in the past year. We really need to quit. My dad quit after smoking about 20 years, just up and quit one day about 2 years ago. It can get stressful to try to up and stop it will almost drive you nuts.
Good Luck Mr. Sauce

I really think it's just a matter of finding YOUR reason to quit. People can throw reasons at you all day long...but it is up to you.

Used to smoke long ago. Quit, got my hubby to quit then we started again up a few months ago. Soon after we started we realized it wasn't a good idea and we quit again. I have pretty much smoked on and off since 2000.
I am still tempted. I'll get cravings on occasion.

I tried it once when I was very young, but it didn't do anything for me. Pot, on the other hand...
I've come to really dislike the smell and taste of smoke, and I can't date smokers because I think they smell so terrible.

Wow, that's impressive! Most people who stop smoking gain weight because they're so used to putting things in their mouth that they resort to food, so your weight loss is especially noteworthy.

My grandmother was one that smoked. Daily. Well into her 70's. Said it was her one bad habit and she wasn't quitting. she dealt with blood clots in her legs. She died of a massive stroke while we were still unpacking from our move to California. 4 days after. She never woke up. It was rough.
I admire those that try to quit. It's harder than those that never start. For me, I'm really sensitive to the smell. It bothers me.

I quit. It cuts the circulation to everything by constricting vessels. The vessels carry nutrients and oxygen. I don't even go near smokers. I had my first cig at three, and my Dad taught me to smoke unfiltered camels and make rings and get the rings to pass through the other rings. I grew up smoking. My Dad died of lung cancers, and his three brothers died of cancer too-the oldest lived till he was sixty. They were active people, but the ciggerettes have so many carcinogens in them....Smoking also causes erectile dysfunction, and even reduces the circulation to the legs and feet. Since I quit smoking, I have made my greatest strength gains as an athlete-not just endurance, but lean muscle mass. Sure, I loved smoking. But ciggeretted are not your friend. If you substitute water in a bottle for the smoking habit, you will lose weight. I smoked for nearly 44 years.

I'm all over the place, just lurking. And I have binoculars too. (Actually I climbed a mountain up north and found out the rumor is true, we have a Wallaby community toward the north part of the island that started as an experiment. They look like tiny kangaroos.
