I smoked for twenty years and quit (Cold Turkey) 16 years ago in 1994 (No Regrets)
What's your relationship with smoking?

I quit for the last time one month ago. I'll never pick up that habit again.

I have never smoked and never will. my father is slowly dying of lung cancer in the room next to me, lung cancer that developed other 20 years after he quit. So I have a pretty strong anti-smoking motivation to say the least.

I used to smoke - not for too long, just a year. I decided to quit, because I realized one day how difficult it was for me to go jogging with my friends. At such a young age, to have that problem, I could not imagine how it would be later on in life if I continued to smoke.

I tried it at 8 and started full time by 12. I am truly an addict and I have the worst time quitting! I turn into mega-bitch and people will actually buy me cigs to shut me the hell up.
I have tried the patch but it gives me a rash and wicked nightmares. I have also tried the newer inhaler thingies, which I like and can see myself using as a quitting aid in the near future. Sometimes however, I actually really enjoy smoking so it will be hard..again.

I used to smoke a bit in highschool but I didn't want to get addicted to it so I didn't smoke a lot.
I do smoke every now and then when I get really hammered. The buzz it gives is just really awesome. But it is very rare that it occurs. I have few friends who smoke. Sometimes I will smoke weed but it is just so rare. Like once a year or less.

I smoked for 4 years or so, I found it really easy to quit for 2 reasons. 1, while I was quitting I would light a cigarette, smoke just a couple drags of it, then I would crush it in my ashtray completely obliterating it grinding it into the disgusting ash. Second... If I was really craving after that I would just smoke pot. Now I have a cigarette on rare occasions, probably once every couple of months, maybe less. I find that I notice the toll they take on my body immediately. Makes it easy not to start back up.
Maybe some of that will help? Good luck quitting.

I had more than one answer to the poll...I should quit because I cough every morning but I don't smoke like a chimney per say...
I have also quit numerous times throughout the past few years.
I find quitting is the easy part...all it takes is a night of drinking, REALLY smoking like a chimney, then smelling a lit cigarette while severely hungover...talk about Pavlovian Classical Conditioning..nothing makes you want to throw up faster, and you'll remember it every time you smell cigarette smoke when sick...
That being said..eventually the world is gonna piss you off, and well, that's when I light up again...

I'm a for-lifer. I doubt I'll ever quit.

Started smoking at 15, thought I was sweet. I wouldn't admit it at the time, but it's the truth.
Then I starting hacking, getting sick a lot, wasting money on cancer sticks that made me smell like ass and taste worse if I had to guess.
Cigs are bad for you.. I'm 22 and I quit, and I don't want anything to do with them, I'd rather smoke my V-8's exhaust pipe than one more of those butts.
Quitting isn't hard either, I really did love my cigs, and I smoked a fair amount of them.. I cut down to one a day, I just made myself, and I realized I didn't need them after a week or so. Cigs are just a crutch, if you can swallow your pride and admit that, you'll add some more enjoyable years to your life.

I've only ever smoked a couple of cigarettes during social situations. It's never been something I enjoyed. Plus the smell gives me a headache!
12/23/2010
One word. Yuck!
12/23/2010
Nope. Never never never. My Dad smokes cigars and I can't stand the smell.
12/24/2010
I don't smoke and don't think I ever will. I really can't stand the smell.
12/24/2010
I tried to smoke when I was in HS to impress my friends but it sucked. Never again.
12/24/2010
I've quit 2 years ago, after 16 years of smoking. I'd better never try it...

I have been smoking again off and on... I am trying to quit again.

Where is the "I love smoking" option?
I quit when I found out I was pregnant, and never touched a cigarette while I was breastfeeding either - but I love smoking, always have. I get interesting imported tobaccos and I smoke because I love it, not because I need a fix. I enjoy the experience. I'm not one of those "Oh, I hate it that I smoke" kinda smokers. I'm unapologetic about it!

Good Luck! I will be quiting right after the New Year.
12/27/2010
I find smoking tobacco insane. Pot, on the other hand, ....
12/27/2010
I finally quit after about 10 years.
12/27/2010
Even though I only smoke if I'm drunk (which is not often) I still consider myself to have quit smoking.
12/27/2010
I have never smoked before and do not plan on ever doing it, especially since my boyfriend has asthma.

It's like isn't the hacking your fucking brains out so annoying you can't stand it?
