This.

I was a really good student in high school but I don't think that I was ready for college. I mean, I thought I knew what I wanted to do but I think that it was more of being forced to pick something. After 2 years I decided to "take a year off", which of course turned into way more than a year (in my defense, though, my dad was diagnosed with cancer during that year and then he passed away and then I found out that I was pregnant).

Now I'm back in school and I feel like everything is in place and I'm right where I should be.

Come May I'll get my PharmD, and I'll be a pharmacist, probably in the community (either a small chain or grocery store). Right now I'm a student pharmacist.

This sounds a lot like my husband. Many good skills, but no paying job.

I would have thought there would be a market for auto mechanics though. The poor economy doesn't make people's cars stop breaking down.

It was mostly because after sitting down and looking at all of these different majors and still having no idea what I wanted to do with my life, this was what I didn't want to do the least, if that makes any sense. If your daughter has a passion for it, she'll do just fine so long as she can find a job. My problem was that I lost most of the passion I had for it so close to the end of the program that I just couldn't give up on finishing.

There's a quite few around here, in a year I have only seen two positions open. Seems that because of the economy more people fix them on their own than take them to a shop, so the shops have less work thus they have less positions. To be honest I thought there was way to many shops to begin with for such a small town. Still you are right, there are many jobs that don't rely on the economy being good thankfully.

The nice part of "Many good skills" means more places to drop a resume.

Daddy and I are both teachers with a B.S. from the same college. We didn't go to school at the same time though. He's an old guy *snicker*

He has his masters and wants to be a principal. I am getting my vet tech certification so I can teach animal science (PA teaching laws are CRAZY) and continuing on to a masters. So we are both still students as well.

I'm an intensive care unit RN, I graduated from nursing school a few years ago. Funny, I don't see a lot of nurses on here...probably because they are too stressed out!
