BTW, you missed an option. In many places in the American South, it is called "Coke." Seriously. A typical conversation might go like this:
Person 1: "What do you want to drink?"
Person 2: "Coke."
Person 1: "What kind?"
Person 2: "Dr. Pepper." less

I'm from the Pacific Northwest and I usually call it soda. Occasionally, I use pop. It's not something I pay much attention to.

I call it soda. I've spent part of my life in the North East, part in the South East. It took me forever to beat saying "pop" out of my Midwest husband.

Different regions of the US, and different parts of the world call it different things. I'm from Chicago, and we call it "POP"! If I'm watching a movie or TV show and someone is supposed to be from Chicago and calls it "soda" I know it's BS. (The same thing with "Sah-Sidge" no self respecting Chicagoan would call it "Saw-sage")
What do you call it, and in the thread portion, tell me where you are from, (it can be basic, like "the southwest" "The northeast" "The North Pole" " OZ" etc. less

I call it soda ._. because it is... pop reminds me of the very... er illiterate batch of people I used to live around in the boonies and they'd call it pop and I'd have no idea wtf they were talking about.
The whole coke thing inspires my inner asshole to make fun of someone and ignore their request for a mountain dew coke and bring them coca cola.
