I want a menstrual cup.. I dont see them sold in the stores and I havent gotten around to ordering some online.. perhaps today was the reminder I needed.
Pads vs. Tampons
08/29/2010
I now like tampons. I used to do a combination, relying more on pads when I was younger. But pads felt diaper-y to me. Wearing them, I always felt insecure, frumpy and distracted with them. When I was able to buy my own things, I began to almost only do tampons. I think I smell much different when I'm menstruating. While the smell of fresh blood isn't unpleasant to me (I know, I'm really weird), I really, really don't want anyone else smelling that. I got some pad samples recently and have been trying them while at at home, but I'm really a plug kind of person. I would like to try menstrual cups one day.

I've considered it. The last time I looked into it, it was a while ago, and they only had latex. I'm allergic to latex, so if they now make it in silicone, I might think about it. As long as it doesn't press on or put any pressure on the cervix. It something that makes my cramps worse.

I'm SOOOOO hard to please. I don't care for the "diaper" aspect of pads, either, and they chafe, I wish I could find a perfect solution. My guess is by the time I find a solution, I'll be done with menstruating.

Pads only - some disposable, some reusable. Tampons hurt me. I've been leaning toward a diva cup for years now and just haven't yet taken the plunge.

Wow, I'd never even heard of the Diva Cup until now. Can anyone who has used one elaborate more? I'd be afraid removal would be super messy.

sweet sally
I have a very distinct cycle. So, first 12 hrs Ultra Absorbant Tampons, next 36 hours reg. tampons, then about 24 hrs of light tampons and maybe a day of panty liner.
I've been off bc for 9 months now and it took me a little while to get it exact to where tampons don't dry me out. I've always used them, but when I was on bc my periods were completely different.
With the thin pads they have now-adays, they don't feel like diapers, but I can smell the blood and I always feel like I've peed my pants.
I have/do us Instead cups every once in a while, but I don't care for the mess.

What's with all the Diva Cups up in here? I feel like that'd feel weird... anything sitting around outside of me waiting to collect my bodily fluids just sounds strange! I'd rather forget about the whole thing.

Diva Cup when I'm in the house or ducking out for something quick (with a pad backup,) tampon if I'm going to be out of the house for a long while, (or swimming.)

Lately I have been using pads because my periods have been so light that a tampon will not fit, it is too dry. I have been blessed with my periods lately and I know a lot of you will hate me, but I swear, my last period did not even last a day.

I'm bumping this comment up because Etsy is where all of my reusable pads have come from and I've been thrilled with all of them, especially those from a seller called Naturally Hip. And I'd always rather support an independent artist or crafter than a big company

Sometimes I get irritated from tampons, so if I feel sore or irritated I'll use pads.

There are sooo many pads on Etsy that I'd love to have! I use a diva cup but on my first day when I am cramping so much I hate the idea of having to put anything inside me and so I like to use cloth pads on those days. I'm going to check out the Naturally Hip seller

I tried tampons many times. They are uncomfortable and hurt my pussy. They also make my flow last a day or too longer. I hate tampons.

Diva Cup. I tried to use tampons once since I got it, I did not like them at all anymore.
10/18/2010
I use both. For 8 years, up until I was 18, I used only pads. Tampons were just to hard to insert. Then, I remember, it was on 4th of July, and I finally was about to get a tampon in. I used to use Tapax Pearl, but I've switched to Kotex U Click a few months agao--and haven't gone back. They're much more comfortable. As for my pads, I like the Always Infinity, but they're a bit pricey. The Kotex U are great, too.

Long live the DivaCup!

I like tampons because they are less messy. I use OB because they're small and tampons can hurt upon insertion. At night when I go to sleep I'll use a pad because I want to give my body a break. Also toxic shock syndrome scares me, so I like to use a mixture of both.

When I'm especially crampy and feel like I'm gonna be sick I just use pads since it's easier. But when I feel normal I use tampons.

I always use pads. I don't think a tampon would be very comfortable. Usually my period is very light, though, so I could probably get away with using liners.
01/02/2011
I can't remember the last time I used a pad.

Diva Cup FTW! I don't think I would ever go back to anything else.

luna cup and cloth pads

I don't like the feel of tampons or the thought of possibly losing it in there. I stick with pads as they're easier to deal with and I don't have to fight my nuvaring to use them.
01/11/2011
tampons stop my flow and i was told not to use them by my doctor so i am a very particular pad girl. our generation got lucky with the wings and ultra thins and all that jazz.
01/11/2011
Tampons the first few days, pads at night ( i so wouldnt take the chance) and pads on low flow cuz that shit hurts pulling out a pad thts mostly dry!
01/11/2011
I prefer tampons and don't use pads unless I have to. I just find them distracting and uncomfortable.
