With the proliferation of cell phones or iPhones in our lives, do you still maintain a land-line telephone?

The second option is NO, I don't have a land-line phone.

Hell, messed up my vote anyway. I've GOT to have one. Besides, Magic-Jack is cheaper than cell plans, and less of a pain in the ass.

We have one, though it's more a VOIP line than anything. But we have it when we don't want people to call our cell phones.
06/13/2012
I have one I like to have it for business rather then my cell phone.
06/13/2012
We have one for emergencies. Cell phones are great and all, but the reception isn't always perfect, and having a land line just makes me feel safer.

My internet is DSL, so I have a phone line through the same company.

Blah, I meant to vote that I only use my cellphone.

I haven't had a land line since I lived at home with my mom and dad which was about 6 years ago. It's just easier to have a cell phone. If you live out where my parents do, a land line is handy because cell phones don't always work.

That's why we have one, too. Also, my husband is very old fashioned (his parents had a wall mounted dial phone until the late 1990s, when the phone company nearly had to come and take it by force!) I also have one for some of my clients, when I don't want to be available 24/7, like I might be with a cell phone. Also, the Lactation sites that list my number always list my land line.

I still have a landline phone and I don't plan on getting rid of it.I also have a cell phone but,I just find it easier to have a phone that I can hold onto. And I don't like the fact that everyone would have access to me everywhere I go.

I only use cellphone.

no land line but sometimes I find I need one
06/13/2012
We still have a landline. Hopefully we'll be able to drop it soon.
06/13/2012
I only have my cell. We had a landline but NEVER used it, so it seemed silly to keep paying for it.
06/13/2012
i miss having my cell phone, but it was cheaper and more convenient to go with a landline + internet
06/13/2012
i see no reason to have both, anyone that wants to call me knows my cell number and i even run my internet off of it so why would i pay for a landline that i would never use? lol

Maybe it was us, but I tried to help a relative install Magic-Jack and the experience was so traumatic that they renewed their cell phone contract.

Ah, yeah, it does require jumping a few impossibly-technical hoops of installation. After that's all done, paying only $20 a year for phone service (including long distance) made it worth it all.

I've never had a landline.

We still have a land-line and my husband always wanted to cancel it, because it's mostly telemarketers calling. We've registered with the 'Do not call list', but that doesn't seem to help!
06/13/2012
I got rid of mine a few years ago.
06/13/2012
Haven't had one for years.
06/13/2012
Had one until two months ago, never thought I would put us in that kind of situation living in the country and all but it got to be too expensive. Good thing we have neighbors somewhat close and our cells get good reception.
06/13/2012
I'm not really sure why I still got a land line, but I guess it's because of some relatives and close friends that only have this # in case they have to get a hold of me.
Mostly it's used for stores, banks and other business's that don't need to be calling me on my cell.

I only have the landline to save me $2 on my U-verse package.
06/13/2012
There are hurricanes and power outages where I live. I have a land line with a cell phone as backup because sometimes one is knocked out but the other will still work.
06/13/2012
my cell phone is all I need.
