I can drive a stick but it is not always pretty. I like automatics.
Can you drive stick?

My first car was a stick. It's nice to know I can, it's also nice to know I don't have to anymore!

i can't drive

Technically yes. I know the way it works, how to do it, and how to transition. The problem is lack of practice for me, because my muscle coordination is crappy at the moment. XD

So I'm asking because I'm constantly surprised at the amount of people these days who can't or won't learn to drive a manual transmission. I first started learning when I was 15 and my mom's boyfriend tried to teach me, but I finally learned when I was 17 and got my first stick shift car, learned 3 on the tree on a former friend's Valiant, and most recently learned how to shift a motorcycle a few years ago when I got one of those. I'm also really surprised by how many people are surprised that I can drive stick as a female. More ladies should know how to do this, for sure.

I think driving a stick is fun I drive one now and I love it. I also think it is important for people to know how to drive a stick.

I can. Barely. If there was an emergency and I only had a manual, I could drive it, but say good bye to that clutch!

My boyfriend tried to teach me and when I stalled his car he made me get back in the passenger seat. haha

My dad tried to teach me stick when I was younger, but I haven't had to drive a stick shift since then. I doubt I would remember how.
04/08/2012
I'm male, and I prefer stick shift.
04/08/2012
Yea, but I have been driving automatic for so long, I have no desire too.
04/08/2012
I panic when I've attempted. I understand the appeal but no thank you.
04/08/2012
I can drive stick but I'm lazy so I don't like to

I was taught how to drive using an manual transmission car. I prefer to drive them over automatic cars just because the cars tend to be cheaper, and I stay more focused when driving. I can't drive anymore due to the nature of my medications though.

yes
09/17/2012
love driving stick
09/17/2012
One of my first cars was a stick and I drive a motorcycle!
09/17/2012
Technically I can drive a stick--my husband insists it's so-but I totally hate it!

When I got my license all we had were manual transmission vehicles. I didn't really have a choice lol

I'm learning to drive stick but I think I prefer auto.
09/17/2012
I learnt to drive and took my test in a manual, but I hate them. Whenever I have to pull out of a junction quickly I'm afraid that I'm going to stall.
09/17/2012
I refuse to, mainly because the first time I tried, I killed my ex-boyfriends engine X'D.
09/17/2012
I drive a stick. Never owned an automatic.
09/17/2012
I don't know how. My aunt was supposed to teach me years ago, but that never happened.
09/17/2012
I grew up driving manual and prefer it
09/17/2012
I don't drive stick and don't want to learn. I love automatic!
09/17/2012
Love stick shift but auto is great too!
09/17/2012
Everyone should know how to drive a manual car, truck, whatever. If only for the simple fact that you need to drive someone to the hospital in an emergency someday and there are no automatics around, and 911 is unavailable.
