Are you a "toy snob"?

Contributor: Katelyn Katelyn
I have become extremely snobbish. The first toy I ever bought was a hard plastic vibrator, I would never use that (let alone orgasm from it) nowadays. I think being on EF for a year+ has definitely helped out my tastes. I only buy certain materials and my fave brands are...

Aslan
Coquette
Seven 'til Midnight
njoy
Tantus
Jopen
SSA Glass
leaf

But I don't think it is always about money. I mean I have all the icicles and the average ones run me about 20ish bucks. I don't think they are super pricey items, but they are of high quality.

For any vibes though, I definitely agree. I would rather have one great silicone vibe than 20 shitty ones. Easier to keep clean too!

For BDSM gear, I am the ultimate snob. Unless it is simple and reusable (DIY items), then it must be high quality. The whips and floggers on EF are mostly geared towards beginners though, so I can see why most of them aren't my favorite brands. I love the Aslan products on here, and bought the JackBoot Paddle just to have because it is adorable- not for actual use. It is a bit flimsy.

In the past, I wasn't. But now? I'm definitely a total toy snob. I will not buy a "cheap" toy; if it's not silicone (no TPR/TPE crap), glass, or metal, I won't even consider it (I'm not a fan of wood after trying it because it's too light for me); if it requires batteries, nope, I only buy rechargeable or maybe a plug in; if I don't like the shape or color, nope, forget about it; etc etc etc. And I won't buy anything that I'm not 1,000% sure about it fitting/working for me...I don't absolutely have to have every single new thing that pops up just because it's "new". Heck, I'm so much of a snob that I even cleared a huge portion of my collection out because I don't want things hanging around that aren't up to par and only kept the best stuff that I liked/worked for me (I even got rid of very nice/luxury/expensive toys because they weren't good enough ).

Hell, I'm even a snob when it comes to massage candles! I had never used one before, so instead of getting a cheaper one to make sure I would like it, I went and bought what I (and many others) considered the best that Eden had to offer, the Jimmyjane Afterglow candles. And now I have almost all of them (well, I gave away the 2 scents so far that weren't "me").

Now if only I was a snob when it comes to lube...hahaha. Well, if I was, I would be using the LELO one, but I've never tried it and I don't think it would measure up for me (and I've considered the quite expensive Pjur, but some of my favorite toys are silicone and I don't want to chance ruining them...and Pjur's water lube, well, glycerin doesn't bother me, but I don't want that in my lube). And forget about Sliquid. Don't like that at all! And my bits don't like it either.

I don't even buy lingerie here anymore because I don't like having tons of it, and what little I do have, I want very nice, luxury stuff (and the few LELO pieces available here...I don't like the only color available here...now if they got the black chemise in and the LELO tap shorts, that would be a different story ).

I'm a material snob really; I'll try most things as long as they're safe and don't stink.

sure I'm a snob for materials/features/des ign, but that doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be a luxury brand or very expensive.

Actually, I think the design is my biggest snob category. I just want everything to be good looking, and this is a time where I can make that reality!

I am very snobby about toy material, but past that, nope.

I'm pretty new to most toys, and I'm a poor college student, so I'm not terribly snobby. I do appreciate quality though.

I'm more of a snob when it comes to finding unique and unusual toys. It's getting harder and harder to find something new and kick ass.

I'm new to toys, so my attitude so far is a) keep it relatively inexpensive so I can try things out but b) don't compromise on safety. This means my purchases so far have been are in the twenty to fifty dollar range.

I'm snobby for most things, but not all. Lately, I've become used to toys that can be sterilized. It's not all that I buy, but I won't spend very much on anything else.

I'm snobby about materials, power, and types of vibrations. All my other preferences are based on my personal needs and/or paranoia

I've started to look at luxury vibes though, so we'll see!

Edit: Just thought about my mom making fun of me for wanting a dildo that was made in Madrid; "You can't even buy normal sex toys?! You're a snob."
