The itch can come any time!
3 year itch (private poll)

As others have said already, it really depends on the relationship. Some people are willing to give up at the first sign of trouble, and others would rather put in the effort to make things work.
No relationship is completely problem-free. Some couples are just better at working through those problems.

Some people are unable to be happy in a long term relationship, period. I think these people like to blame that on this 3 year itch because that sounds better than "I just need to change it up". I think if you find the right person, there is NO 3 year or 7 year itch.

To many variables and personalities involved...depends would be the best answer.

I placed this in Social, because MY question isn't directed at those who are just married. Those in relationships or even single can participate! If you'd like to volunteer feedback, you know what to do
The question is, do you feel that this "3 year itch" theory is accurate? less

I didn't vote. It all depends on how much the partners are willing to put into the relationship after the "chemical" phase has subsided.

I'm not sure. I've never been in a relationship lasting more than two years.

for guys it's a six month itch, followed by a game of how long can you obstain. that can be anywhere from one day to a lifetime.

I do think the relationship dynamic starts to change at the 2-3 year mark. It's more stable and less exciting.

Just take a look at the rise in divorces now-a-days although I think more of this can be attributed to people marrying young and stupid and to the very first and only person they've ever dated.
