It really depends with us. Hard or soft, its all good . Otherwise I prefer an ebook lately, as its easier to read at work and home.

Do you prefer books in hardcover or softcover (aka paperback)? Do you even have a preference?
P.S. I almost made the Freudian slip of writing ... more

I love hardcover books - they just feel and smell better. And they last longer.

I've always preferred hardcover, like the way they feel and for me they tend to not get damaged as easily as a paperback.

I got a lot of books but I hardly ever read them. It's like I don't have the time :/ E-books are the way to go nowadays. But with the reader switched to dark background and light grey text.

I usually prefer my books in paperback unless it's one of my favourites that I read time and time again. Then hardback is better for me because it withstands so much more accidental abuse (being tossed in bags, read at the dinner table, etc).
I also prefer my books in "Hardcore" as well.

Is this really a question? Hardcover rules the day.

I'm all about the price now. I'll endure favorite books that have to be taped back together if the price is right.

I prefer Softcover/paperbacks because they're usually cheaper, lighter, easier to store and I can lend them to friends easier. People don't like to lug around big hardcover books. If I try to lend someone a hardcover book, I usually get the response, "I'll just check it out of the library instead".
There are only a few series I've collected in hardcover, because hardcover does last longer. The Harry Potter series of course I've collected in Hardcover because that's what the first editions came out as. I also, like all of my collected series to be in the same format so if I get one book in a series as a hardcover, I feel like I'm pretty much stuck collecting the rest of the series in hardcover.

I can really go either way with a book, depending on what's available (and affordable). Ebooks are kinda new to me, but I'm starting to use though more often ^^

I prefer paperbacks because I like to recline at an angle when I read - an act which becomes difficult, and often painful on the wrist, when done with a hardcover.

I used to read hardcover and paperback books all the time but than it started to become a space problem. I like buying my books not borrowing them and I reread them a lot. So now Ive switched to reading on my ipad. I read sososo much that it saves space.

It depends. I'll usually go for paperback because it generally tends to be cheaper. If I'm buying a book that I know I will want to be keeping for a long time and reading over and over then I may go for the hardcover because they will last longer.

If a hardcover and a softcover were the same price, I;d get the hardcover, but I usually can only afford the softcover!

If I am getting it permanently, hardcover for sure.

I prefer softcover

Whatever is cheapest!

Hardcover is my preference!

ebooks all the way - easy to share and easy to carry everywhere

I usually prefer paperback books. Unless it's my favorite books. Then I like to have them in hardcover.

Ebooks. Definitely ebooks.

Thrift stores are so loaded with paperbacks that I absolutely love them. How else am I going to get books cheap?

Love hardcover books. But it depends.

I personally enjoy hardcover books. I don't mind paper back, but if I can help it I'll get hard cover.

Hard cover are more durable.

To buy a special edition, I like hardcover books. For one that I want to read quickly, I prefer softcover books.

I am a book reviewer and received a 500+ page hardcover book in the mail to review at one point. I recommended it be bought in softcover or in digital form in my review. That thing was HEAVY.

I like hardcover, tough they're always more expensive.

Wow, I totally have an opinion on this one! I much prefer softcover. I think they're easier to hold, and they tend to be lighter as well. I like to lay in bed to read, so it's ideal if I can hold it up without straining my arms/hands.
