Hard cover because they are easier to take care of (they dont get AS fucked up as a soft cover does once it's been in the back of your car for a few weeks... months.)
Hardcover or Softcover Books?

I am a bit of a bibliophile and used to prefer hardback, but as my economic sense kicked in I found myself getting more paperbacks. Then I bought a nook and have only bought one non-ebook since then. It is just so much more convenient for travel, etc.

I think it depends. If I'm penny pinching, softcover books are necessary. Sometimes, the book is just awkward in hardcover....
And I think nothing beats holding a book in your hand, smelling the pages, marking it up by hand... I don't like ebooks.

I prefer hardback books, but I'll also buy the trade paperbacks. If it's a mass market paperback I'll usually buy the e-book instead.

I prefer resource materials in hardcover and novels in paperback. I have been known to misplace a book in my day; there is minimal loss in a paperback vs. hardback.

I like softcover books. I usually read in bed at night and have a tendency to fall asleep and drop the book smack on my face LOL. Softcovers don't hurt as much hehe.

I would have said hardcore (hardcover) before just for the cool factor. Then I got hooked on this one series and read through all the books. I then had to wait for the newest edition to come out, and when it did it was only available in hardcover for a while (so I bought the hardcover). I had been doing most of my reading on the buses I rode everyday, and I quickly discovered the difference between a smaller softcover and a larger hardcover on the bus - is very significant. So ever since then, I have been ant-hardback.

For me if I really like a series, I'll buy it in hardcover.
If I'm broke, I'll buy it in paperback.
I usually go to the library though, where it's FREE.

I prefer hardcover.

I like how a hardcover is pretty, but the way I recline while reading, a softcover is easier to hold and look at, and cheaper.

I like a hardback if it is a classic or I plan to have it a long time, otherwise soft bound will do.

I like both. I probably prefer hardcover over a paperpack. I like the look and feel of them, but some books I have dont come in hardcover. But if I'm reading, Im pretty happy.

My favorite has always been hardcover, but lately I have been reading while in the bath a lot and they get really heavy, so I have been more likely to go with a paperback for that.

softcover, but only because I have carpal tunnel and it hurts to read in bed with a hardcover.

E-books generally... save a tree... buy an ebook.

I voted other. Obviously I could have also chosen "it depends" as well!
Anyway, typically I go for a softcover, but I do have a couple authors that I have primarily hard cover books from. I usually buy a hardcover when a new book comes out and I can't wait for the softcover version. I also really like the soft-hardcover size books too. Then when I go camping/fishing, I only take softcover books and usually older ones just in case I have any accidents! lol

She: I'm the real book nerd between us, I guess. I just get whatever's cheapest. Hardcover books look prettier, softcover books are easier to transport, and e-books let me use my awesome nook. If I see a book I want, I get it in whatever format I saw it in.

hardcover

i use a kindle and i love not having to keep all the books takign up space in bookcases.

I used to be super picky and only wanted harcover, but in the last few years, I've committed myself to only buying used books. I now love all the variety on the shelves (and knowing that I spent so much less!).

both

I really don't care if its softcover or hardcover, I just want the book period lol

Fully prefer the higher quality and durability of a hardcover.

I really don't care as long as I get to read the book I want. I like hardcover because it's sturdier but sometimes paperback is better for me because I can hold the book easier and keep it open easier.

I prefer hardcover, but if I'm going to be reading in the tub, I'd rather have a paperback. They're generally cheaper and weren't going to last long anyway, so i don't feel as bad if I drop them.

Hardcover for leisure reading, softcover for travelling.

Paperbacks are easier to handle when reading, but I'm a book collector and love the way hardbacks look.

Hardcover for home, paperback for carrying around with me.

It doesn't matter. The only thing I care about is the print being big enough to read and the book not being so small that you constantly have to hold it or bend it to get it to stay opened to a page really good. Hardcover or larger books will stay open if laid flat, but some tiny soft ones don't and I hate that.
