i dont feel as though it is sex, but if i think of it as something penetrating then technically being fingered is sex but i dont think of that as sex either.

As others have said, I consider it sex. And in response to the poster above - I think of fingering as sex as well! Even frottage... I think it may be more an emotional than physical definition for me.
