What Tuesday said is exactly what I think. Seriously, there have been times were I wished I could "like" a post the same way facebookers do. I like how your knitting forum does it better because there are more options for how you think or feel about a particular post. I really like all of your ideas. I'd vote for them. I only have one question about the ignoring ability. Why not just unfollow that person instead?

That's strange. I voted in those polls too, but my vote didn't show up on my wall.

I'd also like the ability to edit my wall. If someone decides to lure 50 different items then I lose the ability to see previous activity from other users on my wall that I might find interesting.

What I want is the ability to set someone to 'ignore' then not see any of their posts in the forums.

'Cause sometimes there is just nothing nice to be said.
I thought this option was available somewhere already?

I remember kristi showing me how to block someone when i had an altercation once. I just don't remember where it is.

Gotcha. I'd like that ability too. I'd use it for the rude and immature.

I would very much like some way to avoid this; a lot of suggestions have been made so far! I just find it difficult to sort through when there are so many threads on the same topic and I like to see everyone's opinions and comments about said topic in the same place. It's hard to remember which of the many blowjob threads I commented on or had a conversation running.

1. Advanced search. At least it should be able to find in the topic title only, or the posts themselves. If I'm trying to figure out if something has already been discussed the search finds mentions to my search keywords in post, and not necessarily in the topic titles. Also an adjustable time filter would be good so it won't dig up too old threads if you don't want to.

2. Stickies and locking feature +1

3. Most importantly, filtering certain categories. Like if I don't want to see the games threads and BDSM, then they wouldn't show up.

4. Filter for regular discussions, to hide every poll? Sometimes it's hard to find a regular discussion, there are so many votes. And maybe the reverse: show only polls / comparatives?

5. I believe there were some threads I couldn't track, only by the heart. There wasn't a button to set an alert for, maybe my own comparative polls?

SOME polls turn into very interesting discussions; such as this thread or this one. However, I understand. Lots of them are just people reposting their vote. Kind of like "why bother voting if you're just going to tell me what you voted?" This goes especially for people who don't choose to elaborate on their vote. If I have an opinion that I want to share about why I voted a certain way I'll elaborate (which is often because I sure do love to talk) but if my vote says all I need to, I'll leave it at that.

As far as I know, your "vote" does not appear, but if you post a comment in the thread, that will appear. Only your actual vote does not appear.

I have a request:

I don't get my updates regarding my Wall or Comments on my reviews for some 45 minutes. But for PMs I get them instantly. Any way to make those updates arrive faster?

Color me embarrassed. You're right, I made comments in those threads and that's what's showing up.

I just voted in another private poll, sans comment, so I guess I'll be able to confirm in a few minutes.

You can turn them off, all notifications and alerts are set to your preference.

I understand. However having been a forum moderator (for a Harry Potter thing) in my teen years, let me tell you... it's not cakewalk. There were so many issues with politics and all sorts of drama you don't even want to know about... and most of the members were adults, so it wasn't like it was a bunch of teens causing trouble.

I would like to get notifications when others reply, just not when I reply.

For "meeting" threads (ex: Eden Cooks) it'd be nice to be able to set an alert for the meeting start time. The "when there's a new post" alert can (sometimes) get out of hand, especially if one is late for the meeting (i.e. late to turn off the alert).

Re: autopaging, I found out the reason why it won't work on EF: there is no "Next" icon at the bottom of the page to click to go on to the next page. So, in addition to the row of page numbers at the bottom of the page, if there could also be a "Next" icon to click to take you to the next page, then I could create rules to allow autopaging. FWIW, Autopage works with Firefox and, I believe, Google Chrome.

I just want to say that I REALLY hate the new page design.

I would articulate why but, really, to do that would take all day, as there's very little I DO like about it. I think the statistics / bar graph thing is cool, but I really hate the rest of that page design.

I'd like the ability to weed out threads deemed annoying and/or useless. I'd also like the ability to clean out super old threads that are not even touched anymore, as everyone keeps starting the same subjects anyways (provided the old thread in question is a really good one).

I'd also like to be able to have some sort of useless comment/wall post radar, but that is asking for a little too much

And the biggest request- POINTS PROBATION FOR THOSE WHO ABUSE THEM. This includes various reptitive and comparison threads (what should I get? what color? How much? Would you? ) and useless smiley face comments and/or spam on reviews and wall posts.

Thisthisthisthisthis.

BUT

I think we also need to be careful about who's put on probation, because I know I leave comments that annoy people on reviews (I just write 'Good review' if that's the only opinion I have on it, and I've seen comments in threads that people hate that. What? Sometimes it's a good review but it doesn't blow up my skirt or anything) so I'd be marked a ~*farmer*~ too.

I think this wouldn't happen because the people doing the probationary tasks know who you are, and they know you aren't out for points. I'm talking chronic point farming.

This is fairly moot because I know for a fact that people who chronically or blatantly point farm are removed/blocked/asked not to participate in the forums.

Now, there ARE people who *SEEM* like they're being genuine with their posts. I think it would depend on if they check back and respond to their threads...

I just had a thought, although I don't know how feasible it is. I love the idea of sticky posts a great deal, but if it was possible for events that are in progress like meetings, Q&As, and parties to have a flashing font (like an alert), it would draw a heck of a lot of attention to them.

I'm gonna say no, no, no to anything flashing; people with neurological disorders (epilepsy, for one) can have a seizures because of things that flash.

I'd be open to events being bolded and in a different colour on the forum list, though, when they're actually taking place.

How about strobing slowly or cycling through colors. I wasn't talking about anything rapid anyway.

Oh, I was kind of visualizing one of those awful flash animations, circa, um, 1999, with cyan, yellow, red, blue, etc. all being flashed super fast. Urg.

Cycling through colours would be fine, I believe, or even strobing them, depending on how it was done, but flashing things are definitely something I'd advise against.

What about a redirect that would occur when you log onto the forum for the first time during that time, kind of like a popup but in the same page, saying XYZ is occurring now, would you like to view this thread?

Oh, hell no. I was thinking simple html strobing where you can make it strobe to a brighter color ever, say, three seconds.

I'm thinking the redirect would annoy the hell out of people.

I was more thinking of a one-time window, just happening the first time you log onto the forum during the time frame that wasn't ever seen again during that event. It'd be nice, though, if it was an opt-out-able thing.
