This isn't about good or bad. This is about presenting the information in the most logical and streamlined way. You were a descriptive reviewer, you know the differences between those reviews and just stating personal opinion. The entire point of the mentor program is to teach reviewers the best way to present information. less

I think when new reviews were getting 40+ votes, and this impacted rank and therefore assignments, people put every little detail in a review, making them very very very very very long. After reading those reviews, reviews that were shorter, but perhaps still just as helpful and certainly complete, were given useful votes instead of extremely useful votes. So, more people wrote longer reviews. The super long review isn't necessarily more helpful, but it's more "showy" and gets more attention.

I think the main thing that will change, is not including everything that is on the product page, because it's already out there for folks to know. Unless the product page dimension are off, there is no need to write a paragraph listing them in your review. I think in the past reviewers included that information to get higher votes, and I think it did impact the voting of readers. As long as those voting on the bulk of the reviews, which is a fairly small group, don't downvote for not seeing those things that are also listed on the product page, I think that the new shorter streamlined review plan will work fine. less

My point is, unless every person that reviews is going to go through the mentor program and completely stick with what they were taught for every review they write, you're not going to get the results you're after. less

I haven't thought of anything I'd like to ask, but I just had time to check my emails and they of course let me know that I'd missed out on this (and have surely missed out on a ton of other Eden fun).

Now that I've got a break from school, hopefully I can take some time to read through everything and catch up! I'm thrilled to hear that the mentor program has come back, and I just want to say hi (and that I should have time to get back on Eden! I've been so busy with my writing elsewhere that I have totally neglected everything here, and the Admin message made me realize how much I missed it).

I still want to know why its so damn hard getting anything to review. It never used to be like this. I literally have tried 30 things. Theres no way that all those things eoukd be taken ? I also never got any responses on 2 different support tickets i submitted. I see that an admin actually tried to give me an assignment in octobet but i never even got an email or i would haave snatched it up!

My, question is, why is the site so screwy now? I havent been able to review anything, including buyouts, at all. For the last 8 months at least.

Assignments are approved once a week on a first come, first serve basis. Some items are not always available for review -- buyouts are always available to advanced contributors.
