Unsafe Shipping, Watch Out Guys

I received a package today via UPS Surepost and it came in the same envelope. Thankfully it was just a butt plug and a vibrator so nothing breakable/leakable. I was still surprised to see the envelope though. My package last week came in a box even though it was small.

I agree that the USPS Priority isn't worth the money. It took forever for me to get this package while my Sure Post package last week arrived very quickly.

WOW. Just wow. If that's how my orders are going to be shipped, honestly I'll think twice before ordering from EF again, and I never thought I'd say that. For one, I'd be terrified of things leaking and/or breaking. Second, that doesn't seem discreet in the least! From reading these comments, it sounds like the larger objects are shipped in boxes still? That's good to know, I hope that larger dildo I just ordered will make my most recent shipment qualify for a box! D:

This may be a means of cutting the costs...smaller packages sometimes are just not cost effective in boxes, but the envelopes usually go for a much cheaper rate. If the size of all the items combined is larger than what safely fits in the envelopes, they would probably use the boxes. (I sell on ebay and ship many, many items. The buyers usually go for the cheapest shipping alternative vs. the most reliable/safest for the item.

I live in Montana--when I use the Priority Mail I get my item in 2-3 days vs. 12-14 days with the UPS Sure Post. I usually wait and place a larger order so I can get the free UPS or pay extra for the Priority (since the shipping change).

While I can understand that it's a way of cutting cost, I'm concerned about how safe it is. A glass item shipped in an envelope like that isn't really safe. The envelope does very little to protect the item.

There is also the issue of discretion, which is a HUGE one for me. Those envelopes are not as discreet as the standard brown boxes. Sure, they don't say that they're from a sex shop, but the envelopes rip far easier than the boxes do.

Yeah, plus this was a *big order* with multiple fragile items. If it was one glass bottle wrapped up in bubble wrap in a bag, I would be less concerned. Multiple glass items floating around in a bag with no padding between them? Yeah, screw that!

Same here. I received a few orders last week and the week before. The orders from two weeks ago arrived in boxes, regardless of UPS or USPS shipping. Last week, two orders through UPS and USPS both arrived in plastic envelopes. Luckily they were not damaged, but I won't hesitate to return an expensive product that arrives damaged.

I don't have a problem with the envelopes, per se, but certainly there is the potential for damaged items, as some have experienced. It's a calculated risk that EF has decided is worth the savings to them.

Hmm.. the ones shipped by UPS are being shipped in the envelopes, as well?

I guess I will be holding off on placing an order, then. I need discretion, and I just don't feel like those envelopes give me that.

Mine did last week. My fiance's Fleshlight box was smushed badly. Luckily the toy was still intact.

Wow! This all sounds so devustating
I placed an order Monday past of last week and still don't know where's it landed.
I really hope they get a little brighter with the shipping process.
I love Eden and the whole community. But I had the way things is being handled lately.
USPS takes about a month for me to get a parcel and UPS is like 2 weeks. I'm just across the border in Canada!

I'm expecting a package tomorrow and one on Friday. I haven't yet received a plastic bag, but I try to always place larger orders. The next two I'm going to receive are smaller, so we'll see what happens.

I totally understand trying to save some money with shipping, but right on the return form, there is the option of returning something because the packaging is damaged. How many displeased customers are going to send things back for that reason alone? If the packaging was damaged during shipping, what's to say the quality of the item wasn't compromised?

If shipping is getting too expensive, I don't know why they wouldn't just raise it a little instead of cutting corners by using indiscreet (and unsafe) shipping bags.

That sucks!

I think I'm going to be the only one who says I like USPS priority. It could just be that it's very dependent on your location. I have problems with UPS.

For me it's the opposite. USPS is way faster than UPS. UPS sometimes won't leave packages and it's a huge hassle to get them. I've had lots of problems with UPS, never USPS. I often get packages early with USPS.

My last EF order was also in an envelope, but it wasn't fragile. Just an Aneros Eupho, small lube sample and wipes...no damage at all.

I can see cost cutting, but they ought to resort to boxes for fragile stuff.

That is not good at all. Anyone who received damaged or spill goods should speak up. 1. you paid for a good product 2. If you don't tell them how are they going to know to pack the products better next time.

I can't believe they didn't put the oil and lubes in individual bags nor put a fragile sticker on it.

I think I've only gotten a bag once, and every thing was okay. I like the USPS option, when I can afford it (since I only use it when I qualify for it), since it gets to me rather quickly. The UPS Mail Innovations is what I usually get. Since I don't place very big orders (I'm slowly building my collection one or two toys at a time). I get it within 5 business days and I'm over in California.

I don't buy liquids from EF (other than Maximus lube). My packages come in boxes that are way bigger than the actually order and padded with just brown paper.

How strange. Since the shipping changes I have had a few UPS packages, and they always transfer it to the local post office before delivering to me. I still prefer the USPS because it is so fast.

I've had a similar issue with lube not being individually wrapped in a plastic bag and leaking into the rest of my package, as a result I order lube separate now from other toys. Fortunately the leak was minimal and didn't damage the toy, a silicone one and fortunately the lube was water based. It seems sometimes liquid bottles are individually wrapped and sometimes they aren't.

I'm surprised your order came in the package it did instead of a small box with the usual paper packing, I've ordered less and received it in a box instead of the envelope you had. Glass toys especially require additional cushioning when being sent through the post.

I am wondering if anyone from Eden can comment on their new shipping procedure...

I know that there are not many people here anymore, but this is something that could potentially put people off of placing orders, and it seems like it deserves some sort of response.

I thought Stormy would have chimed in by now with an explanation, not that it's her fault. I think it is really horrific to be sending things in bags. I'm really disappointed.

I think they've given up on damage control at this point.

I'm surprised that they would use envelopes instead of boxes for glass and liquid items, especially since just about every order I've placed has arrived in a box quite a bit lager than the items.

I'm with you on this one. I've never had any problem with USPS Priority; the boxes always arrive in good condition, and they're always on time.

Honestly people, it's Eden's fault for using those poly bubbled bags, why blame USPS???

Thus far, we have been very pleased with Eden's shipping, especially the FREE shipping.
Our orders have always been packaged discreetly and they always arrive in a timely manner. Always. (Excluding back ordered items) In fact, we normally receive both our UPS and USPS priority orders within 3 business days. Surepost orders add a day or two, depending on when I submit the order.
Our orders have always been packaged with adequate packing to protect the contents. We have never received any leaking bottles or broken products what-so-ever. It sounds like we have been very lucky so far.
I am not a fan of this switch to envelopes, but I understand that it may be suitable for some orders. I hope Eden is able to resolve these kinks pretty quickly.

Wow...so that's no good.

It took me two days to find this post and I have been all over the forum, if even one of you had messaged me directly I would have handled this days ago.
That being said, I know now and I've mentioned the problems. Please submit support tickets to get your items replaced or refunded.

I think everyone is concerned with the amount you have on your plate at the moment and this doesn't seem like something that would be within your control. I don't think anyone avoided messaging you for any other reason.

That being said, I received a box today. It had a couple larger things in it, but I think it could have fit into a bag.

I know everyone is concerned and I truly appreciate it, but I can handle it. It's harder for me to chase it down in the forum, that's all. So yeah, Ilya and I talked and everything should be sorted out now. I mean it's totally cool if lingerie or small items or something in a box ships in a bag, but not liquids and glass.
