Neat! My shirt is kinda small. I may have to use two shirts. One for the handles and one for the bag!

What about the batting?

Here's a few examples of other things shirts can turn into:

This one was pretty easy, literally just sewed across the bottom of a tank top:

This one took a bit more work, but is a fully functional bag with pockets inside and everything:

Ooh that it awesome. I can't believe how easy it was to do. *slapping forehead with wing* and to think of all the old tee's we ended up using to clean the car with. Even ones that had cute designs on it.

I am loving this workshop bring on the complicated bags, but not so complicated :p

You can also turn a lot of old t-shirts into pillows as well. My husband has an ex that did that to one of his really beat up shirts to get him to stop wearing it, lol. I'm getting around to redoing all the stitching because it's kinda shoddy, but I can't say I blame her for doing it, lol.

For our next bag, we're still going to get a little more complicated. The strap sounds harder than it really is to make, but trust me, they're not that bad. You'll need a single piece of fabric that's about 31”x20”, a piece of poly-fil batting that's about 13”x20”, and a piece of batting about 2”x24” if you want to stuff your strap.

I'm so regretting getting rid of this one cute tank top. It never did fit me since it was given as a gift in a couple sizes too small, I held onto it for a long time and eventually gave it away. Now I want it back!

Measurements can of course be adjusted based on personal preference.

You'll start by marking out where you want to cut out the straps. Next, measure in how wide you want your straps to be, and add about half an inch. So I want my single strap to be about 2” wide, so I marked in 2 1/2”. If you have one long straight edge, make about 3 marks down the side of the fabric you want to cut: one at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom. If you have a shorter straight edge, measure in and mark every 5” or so down the length of your fabric. Use your marking implement and straight edge to draw a line connecting all your marks. Cut very carefully along that line. You'll want a grand total of 2 pieces of fabric for every strap you want to make.
