Hey everybody, and welcome to our ninth Reviewers Spotlight featuring Vaccinium and Red Vinyl Kitty!!!*** Red Vinyl Kitty has been with us for about a year and a half now. Since joining us she's become an extremely active reviewer (including a bunch of awesome video reviews and a wonderful mentor. "My name is redvinylkitty, and I've been writing sex toy reviews of all kinds for almost two years now. I have been on Eden for about a year and a half. I first found Eden by accident. I've been really active on Twitter for a long while now, and I just happened to notice someone retweeting something EdenFantasys had tweeted about needing more sex toy reviewers. At first I was completely overwhelmed, but I joined the mentor program and I really enjoyed working with Sir. His reviews were inspirational to me (as they are to many people) and he really helped me to be a much better reviewer. I remember in the beginning the most difficult reviews for me to write was for lingerie. My first ever push assignment was for a piece of lingerie that didn't fit. I was bummed, but somehow had to write a review on it anyway. Thank goodness for Sir. I think it took us two or three weeks of back and fourth editing before I got it! My biggest piece of advice for anyone new to reviewing on Eden would be to use the extended template. I think it is a wonderful tool just to have more space, but also because it gives you prompts which makes it difficult to leave out the most important info. I love Eden, and I hope to be here for a long time!"**** Vaccinium is a man you all know and love if not for his witty humor (have you seen his erotica or well, any of his reviews?) but then definitely for his love of photography and hosting our awesome photography club. "When I first came to EdenFantasys back in January, I started out writing reviews on products my wife and I already owned. Although they were decent in terms of grammar and coverage of important points, they were dry and boring. Suffice it to say, those words really don't describe me very well. As such, I decided I needed a mentor to guide me through how to be my goofy self with my reviews. For me, that was easily the best thing about the mentorship program. My mentor (Darling Jen), gave me the support I needed to find myself, and the rest is history. Being yourself in these reviews leads to better reviews because you aren't trying to shove a square block in a round hole. The main challenge for me as a reviewer is to come up with a theme for any of my reviews. Once I have one I like, I'll literally spend weeks or months getting my thoughts together before actually writing the review. I wouldn't recommend this for everyone, but if I can't put out a well crafted, witty, and funny review, I'd rather not do it at all. Those reviews I have to write before I am ready aren't very fun for me, and are absolutely a challenge.I found EdenFantasys like many people did. I googled "Adult toys" and EdenFantasys was one of the first that popped up. I checked out several of the sites that Google listed, and was easily most impressed with EdenFantasys. I actually found Eden over a year before I actually started posting in the forum and writing the reviews, At that point, the forum wasn't quite as diverse and community-oriented as it is now, and I can't say I had much interest in being a part of the then-fledgling community. When I returned again this past January, I found a completely different Eden, and one which was somewhere I felt immediately comfortable and where I could be myself. I've not been around as much as I'd like to over the past few months because of fixing our house, being out of town a lot for work, and family obligations, but that in no way diminishes how much I enjoy being here, interacting with everyone, and talking about everything related to a sex positive community. My advice to those just starting out reviewing is two-fold. First, look through the lists of available mentors and contact the one that best suits you. The mentorship program is wonderful - even for those who are already skilled writers. Second, let that mentor help you learn how to write an informative review and to help you be yourself in your writing. If you aren't being yourself, it simply isn't as much fun, and writing reviews will begin to feel like a chore rather than the fun it really can be."***Please join me in welcoming Red Vinyl Kitty and Vaccinium to the Spotlight, and make sure that you're here on Thursday, November 3rd at 8pm EST to ask them both some questions, give them some lovin', and maybe even learn something for yourself while you're at it!
