But yes, it's quite interesting teaching creative writing. I would assign a task to my university students - and you just can't believe the number of crazy ... more
I remember doing something like that in a writing class - it was pretty fun and amazing! We also did something where a group of 8 would each start a story and write a few pages, then pass to the left. You would end up writing a different piece to each story, from beginning to end, and I don't think any of them turned out like how the starting writer intended

I live in the country, I'd rather be close but far..live far enough away from the city but close enough that I can get to a big city without driving for 2 hours.

I'd love to have a country house that was less than 20 minutes from at least a big city or so. So I don't have any neighbors bothering me!

"His" pupils, actually. I could be wrong, but I think Ash was the only male author in the book. I know him mostly through his reviews on Erotica Revealed and Erotica Readers and Writers, but he's a terrific writer himself.
Yes, he was the only male writer in the book. That wasn't my intention. It just happened that the stories that fit the best and which I felt were the best ones happened to be penned by women. I usually prefer a mix of male and female writers in my books, but that doesn't always happen.

I think he is, because he told me he wished he could be here, but he has to get up early (in the UK) to teach a class.

Are the authors you work with split evenly between men and women, or are there more of one or the other out there writing erotica?

It's not so much fun when it's cold and muddy. But having horse is worth it, and they take care of ours when we're out of town.

Are there particular places, cities or otherwise, that just seem to you to be more atmospheric as settings for erotica or the paranormal in general? I actually lean more toward isolated natural settings, but cities have a lot going for them.

It seems that more women are writing, but I think this is across the genres really. Despite the sexism that still prevails in the literary world (you only need to see the recipients of literary prizes to realise this), women are alive and well and writing. A LOT. I wish I would get in more suitable material for my books from male writers, but as I said before, it's just not been happening.

Maybe I should issue a challenge to male writers!

I think in a city I would say the most ideal type setting for paranormal is New Orleans..

As long as you find something erotic in a setting, it works Paris and Scotland do it for me.

Anne Rice has immortalised that city. And Poppy Z. Brite.

I like a landscape but maybe on the back of the house. Where I am now my driveway goes down a hill and there is a blind curve. I would love to be able to go for walks along the road as well as in the woods but its not safe.

I seriously think some crazy erotic stuff could happen in the old abandoned buildings in Detroit!

I don't mind living on flat land (as I currently do) as long as there are mountains nearby that I can see at all times. (Right now there's a lovely dusting of snow on the 10,000 ft peaks towering over my house.)

Yes, that I agree with. Maybe you should custom-design the terrain!

I'd actually like to edit an anthology where the sex was mainly outdoors in the country, but it probably wouldn't appeal to enough readers. I've done sex scenes in mountain streams, the Grand Canyon, Muir Woods outside San Francisco, the Marin Headlands, isolated cabins--well, the cabins don't quite qualify as outside, I guess.

A whole book of male writers may be interesting!
