Oh, I'm fully informed-- and I did see Pregnant in America, read Ricki Lake's book and a bunch of others. I intended to do natural childbirth but ended up with C-section with my first baby (who is now 19 months old) after a failed induction. My blood pressure was climbing for the last few weeks and I wasn't doing well. 12 hours into the Pitocin (and no pain meds), I was 1 centimeter dilated, BP was out of control, my blood sugar kept dropping, etc. It was awful. Baby never dropped because his head was enormous. Induction isn't an option this time (and I would NEVER go through that again), so it's either baby is coming on his own (as long as I'm doing well) or I'm having another Cesarean. As much as I would've liked to do natural childbirth, it wasn't in the cards for me the first time and it's looking like it won't happen this time, either.

Oh wow this sounds so so similar to what I went through... BP high.. pitocin wasn't working, i spent 12 hours on it..but did finally dilate enough. But never ever would I do pitocin again. I ended up taking a couple shots of Demerol because the pain Pitocin contractions wore me out, I couldn't rent, I never would have been able to push.
I will be thinking good baby pushing thoughts for you!
