Thank you. That was five years ago. She's much different now.

I'll teach the means by which you can reveal color in a B&W or Sepia shots down the line.

Looking forward to that. I've always wondered how that works

And thank you to you and Twisted Finger as well. She's a hellion now. Still cute, but nowhere near as endearing.

I always wondered why photographers pose people this way! Makes sense though

Precious!

My mom refuses to let anyone take a picture showing her body so I have to take pics that have more background unless I'm taking a close up of her face. Does it work if the eyes are along the bottom line, maybe slightly above?

On Photoshop, at least, it is remarkably easy. I even did it to Alys's avatar last night. Each photo took me maybe 10 minutes to tweak.

It can. Of course, it depends on there being something of interest in the top portion of the photo. Often when you do as you are suggesting, placing the subject towards the corner can work better than just on that line.

That’s it for the discussion on the Rule of Thirds. If you have any other questions, now is definitely the time to ask them. Anybody?

Yeah, I figured there was that too, but I don't have the funds to throw down for Photoshop. I rely on free software, like good ole' paint, which I've used to make buttons for my blog. Can't wait til I can upgrade..

Cool, thanks. It's always hard to get good pic's of her.

My guess is that GIMP (which is free) allows you to do this. Perhaps some of the other free ones will as well. When it comes time for me to publish an article on it, I'll see what the free and cheap photo processing software is capable of doing.

OK, then..........

Before I unveil this month’s photography theme (which shouldn’t be too hard to guess), it’s time to award another gift card. Considering I used to teach at the college level, I have a thing for testing people on their reading assignments. The articles I write aren’t “assignments,” of course, but I want to try my best to get you to read them because I truly feel they will help your photography. So, ready?

Dang it. I will be reading through this thread awhile it looks like. If I have questions I'll pose them here.

I have another meeting after this, so feel free to ask and I'll answer them over the next hour or so.
